Circle Center Mall will soon follow the path of Washington, Lafayette, and the soon to be ruined Castleton Square Mall. Todays young people, with no respect, or regard for anything, are even worse than previous generations.

Makes me wonder how malls make any money. All you see is thugs hanging out or elderly folks power walking.Maybe buisness would pick up if they put gun stores in malls. The way people are freaking out over gun bans maybe white people would start shopping at malls again. lol

This is true. This mall is certainly no Mayberry.

I have a question to all of you- is Indpls becoming the next Detroit or Gary? It seems every morning we get news of who was shot or who the police are looking for. Being born and raised here it makes me sad the city has come to this.

Until family and community members start calling out the criminals on their behavior, it will continue and yes, become another Detroit.

Jail is fun and games these days. And why not? Family members come and see you, give you money for snacks and phone calls and a place to live should you ever see the light of day. Life of Reilly really.

As always no responsibility is taken by anyone. Criminals are just being kept down by the man, they are all innocent didn't ya know?

I'm so disgusted seeing the woman that was sucker punched while waiting for the bus, and after the guy hit her he punched the cop. And now the 16 yr old firing into the air outside Circle Center. Seems it isn't even safe to just be in your car downtown. And ch 8 news said the police were so quick to respond to the kid shooting that the situation was over before most downtown even knew about it. Great. Cover it up and sweep it under the rug. Idiots. I can't wait to see the body count after Black Expo.

This is what urban life has become. The black population craves violence. The caucasion authority lives in fear that enforcing laws against the blacks will result in accusations of racism by Andre Carson and his followers. Luckily, MOST of the crime commited by these blacks is against each other. In that regard, I would like to see the murder statistics rise significantly and while there may be collateral damage (a caucasion being killed), most of the killings will be, effectively, a form of crime stoppers.

It is very possible. However, Indy will spend millions on additional police presence, and added security at the mall, inand effort to save the downtown area. I am just not sure it will work. Unfortunately the only way to stop teen violence downtown is to not allow a large number of teens to congregate there at all. Does anybody remember when a mall had one "mall cop"? I was at Castleton Square recently, and it had been some time since I had been there. There was an "army" of mall security on a Friday night. I would like to see the annual dollar amount spent on security at that mall alone.

The girl that was 'sucker punched' goes by the name of Kimberly Barnes and has an arrest record a MILE long. In fact, this was the first time she wasn't the criminal. Sounds like someone got tired of her stealing from them to support her drug habit.

Two years ago drug dealers and thungs moved into my block. Crimes of all kind was going on until I made a stand.I installed cameras and showed recordings of what was going on.The thugs come at me hard but I kept recording and calling the police while sneaking in and out of my own home. I didn't give up calling every office that would listen until they took a look at my recordings. All in one day the police,CPS, and DEA rained on my block and busted everyone. It's quite now like it was for twenty years prior.
It can be done, but you have to be willing to go the distance.

And the cop that got punched? Guess it was his fault too.

Yes, they said Indy was still a safe city. Maybe when compared to Baghdad. You are absolutely correct. They need to stop acting like this isn't a big deal. I see absolutely nothing wrong with prohibiting those under 16, or 18 from being downtown at all after dark without a parent, or guardian who could be held responsible for the teen's actions. The same goes for the city's shopping malls. If you are under 18, and want to go to the mall, you better go right after school, unless you want to go with your parents. This won't stop it completely because in a lot of cases the parents are as bad as their kids, but there is no doubt it will decrease the incidents we have been hearing about lately. This is completely legal, and will not hurt sales figures at the mall since they really aren't buying anything anyway. In fact, I would say that sales figures will actually increase when legitimate shoppers do not feel intimidated by unruly kids. This would have to be strictly enforced, even to the extent of possibly losing some events downtown. It just all depends on how much Indy is willing to do to take the city back. Unfortunately, the Ten Point Coalition isn't working.

Why you so concerned now? Where you been the last 10 years. Things do not get this bad over night.

Not everyone knew this stuff was going on for the past several years. It has been kept fairly quiet. It is just that it seems to be getting more violent, therefore, harder to sweep under the rug. If you are not in the immediate area, a fistfight may go unnoticed, but gunshots on city streets require an explanation to the public.

Great job! We have done the same thing. We live in indianapolis and I love on a dead end street I have quite a few retired neighbors that I'm quite close to. Our street is pretty close knit but we have a couple rental homes and had the same thing happen and up went the cameras. They didn't last a month. There is us and a family across the street that's just as nuts, if they come looking for trouble they came to the wrong street. We have no problems in chasing them. Can't depend on the police and I love living in indianapolis people just have to stop hiding in corners and letting them control everything an scarring them into other towns

There is no easy answer to this problem, however it looks like the police could do more
than what they do. These kind of things are uncalled for.

Truly I think the problem is in the juvinelle system. It doesn't matter what color a kid is. They all get off with a slap on the wrist cause they don't know what to do with them. There is no scared straight programs and the juvinelle jail is a joke. Kids get arrested and are released back to parents within 2 hours. My son was jumped by 3 black boys as he walked across the street leaving his high school walking home. They wanted his iPod they broke his nose, busted his face up he put up a hell of a fight and they were all found guilty of robbery and assault and yet before their cases went to court they were out of jail that night before my son was out of the hospital. If they don't learn as young adults they surly can't as men.
