if the speed limit increase to 80 it would be a bad idea, too many speeders out there.
You don't get it, if people are already driving 80, and the speed limit gets raised to 80, the motorists going 80 will not be speeding.

You are surely not suggesting everyone drive whatever speed they want?
We do anyway.

A driver's license should return to being a priviledge and not a right.
And Southern Baptist Democrats should set each other on fire and go drive their heaven mobiles with the lord, to make room for the rest of us here on earth.

A person has a right to drive so long as the purpose is not for commerce. What a driver doesn't have a right to do is smash into other people and maim or kill them, that is a privilege.

It is about time the speed limit was raised on the wide open spaces. Out west we can go for miles and not see another car. Leave the speed limit open in these places.

If these idiots actually read engineering without knee jerk reactions, they'd realize that changing it to 80 wont change the travel speed, just improve traffic flow. Leave it to the idiots to ruin common sense engineering, since they take all the votes...

People just cant drive anyway no consistency out of date roads to crowded. Usually if you are doing 80 people are flying by and you don't get their much faster at all and you burn more fuel.

It doesn't matter how fast the legal speed limit is changed to. You can't drive any faster than the person driving in front of you, and in Charleston that means you will always have people going 55 mph in the fast lane. Which is what causes the accidents/traffic jams in the first place. People, MOVE RIGHT EXCEPT WHEN PASSING!!!

Very true it is the driving habits of the people on the road. In california we get the slow guys in the fast lane and the people weaving 3+ lanes nearly cutting people off in the process.

How true your statement is. The left lane is for passing and then move back over to the right lane when you're finished passing. No courtesy, no intelligence - that's about what today's driver's are like. And usually on the cell phone or reading the paper, etc. I'd like to have a phantom zone ray gun like the superman comics and send all these crazy drivers there until they learn how to drive correctly.

If one is not capable of driving, why should it be a right to endanger those of us who can? If protecting myself against idiots is fascist, then a fascist I proudly am!!
Actually, the right to own a gun (a lethal weapon) is a right, so you prove the opposition's point.

Let me say this, as well: some of SC's roads are dangerous. I was driving some of them just yesterday. They have 60 speed limits on four-lane roads with sudden curves that scare you at 50, and there are no warning signs suggesting a safe speed for hazards. Now they want to raise interstates to 80. I say they need to get their house in order before considering speed enhancements. I'm all for speed increases, but I hate inconsistency, and I especially hate speed limits that set up inexperienced drivers to crash.
