This is sad, but on the other side of the coin - there are elderly who get mean and ugly if anyone tries to help them. They do not want "anyone messing with their business." They will even tell people to stay off their property. So people just give up on helping them. Not all elderly are gracious and grateful
Agree with you totally on that point. Used to have one across the street that was as ornery as they get. NOW, she demanded her brothers (one very sick, the other in his seventies) keep up the house she, by order of their deceased father's will, had occupancy rights until her death. The taxes and upkeep were horrendous on the remaining kin BUT they dutifully tried to fufil their father's wishes.
NOW, if they came to see her/check on her, she'd more often than NOT answer the phone or the door. She'd call THEM if she wanted/needed anything. She was also one of those that wanted into everyone ELSE's business, nosin' about in other people's yards, BUT a ball or dog better not come in what she considered HER yard. I forgot something one day and had to return just a couple minutes after leaving to find her IN my driveway, staring thru the cracks in my privacy fence.
I notified her brother's who unfortunately can't do anything with her. They advised me to call the police and have her served a No-Trespass.
SO, the point is, there's ALOT of Alices Krantz" and "Mister Wilson" malcontents old grouches out there who are NOT the quissentental (SP) "Ma and Pa Kettles". Just like the one who GOT LIFE for killing the kid who 'stepped' on his lawn
