I am considering relocationg to Spartanburg and just have a few questions.

1. What type of town is Spartanburg?

2. What is the crime like there?

3. Do you enjoy living there?

4. Would you consider Spartanburg a clean city?

5. Is there a specific area to avoid when buying or renting?

Thanks

Dieing town
murders daily high crime
Moving to Tennessee, no jobs and one of highest foreclosure rates in country
dirty, dirty, dirty
avoid the state of sc, high state employment tax, state tax and property taxes on every thing you own.
I would not consider it, we are moving to Tennessee, no state tax and cost of living in East Tennessee is thousands of dollars a year less.

Spartanburg in town. NO unless you like to live in a city. Spartanburg county has nice towns.
We moved here from out of state 5 years ago.
Jobs those are hard to find in any state or town. Murders every where high foreclosure every where
dirty??? Spartanburg counsel needs to work on getting the city back to the top. The city could be renew .But, it seems that people want to keep the SOUTH from growing. Not just Spartanburg area.
People need to get over the OLD SOUTH.
Not in the city.

renting make sure you really look over your agreement. Also the landlords CAN NOT go into the house you are renting without 24 - 48 hours notice only in Emergancy. Taxes well we still can`t get over the different taxes for different items. When you think you got it figured out they go and change it on you.

In all fairness, I will add my own comments. I moved to S'burg 13 years ago from FL.

1. What type of town is Spartanburg?
S'burg is a growing town that continues to develop. There are four major colleges connected to the city, so it tends to be a college town at times. The arts are developing rapidly here. Although still not comparable to large cities in the number of events, there is strong support of the arts and it continues to grow with the recent development of the Chapman Cultural Arts Center. Small enough to be nice, large enough to find a few nice restaurants.

2. What is the crime like there?
There is crime in S'burg which seems to grow as the city grows, but after living in Denver and Orlando it is minimal here.

3. Do you enjoy living there?
I do enjoy living here. The seasonal changes are incredibly beautiful and a short drive either direction takes you to the beach or to the mountains. The best of my CO and FL experiences....

4. Would you consider Spartanburg a clean city?
I see more littering in SC than in CO (an incredibly clean state), but the state has regular cleaning routines. The flora makes the state absolutely beautiful.

5. Is there a specific area to avoid when buying or renting?
As with all cities, there are good and bad parts of town. Consult with a good real estate agent to find those areas that are preferable.

I never expected to live in SC, much less to enjoy living here. However, S'burg is small enough to feel comfortable and large enough to keep you busy. I have very much enjoyed living here. I hope you will at least visit to see the charms of our area.

I would love to be able to move to smokey mountains, it is so beautiful there and not hot as it is here. The cost of living there sounds great also. Wishing I could go with you.
