A 16-year-old Spartanburg County boy isn't surprised that Mary Black Hospital earned a special certification for its treatment of stroke patients because he was one of them.

Although I've never had a stroke I have been cared for exceptionally well in Mary Black's Center for Rehabilitative Medicine, which is somewhat of a seperate entity of Mary Black Hospital overall.(Nevermind that it's located on the ground floor of the main hospital.) The nurses, therepists, Dr. and entire staff there are truly magnificent! I spent 2 weeks there several years ago with many stroke and other neurologically and orthopedically afflicted patients. I've gone back by there just to say "Hi!- Roll Tide!" several times since my release if I was at Mary Black anyway for some other reason. In all fairness to SRMC's "Stroke Center" I believe I'd prefer to be there initially if I were to actually have a stroke, and then transfer to Mary Black's "Rehab".
