EEOC sues over criminal background checks

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed lawsuits Tuesday against discount retailer Dollar General Corp. and a BMW manufacturing plant in South Carolina over their use of criminal background checks to screen out job applicants or fire employees.

Great, just what we need. More frivolous lawsuits and as if the courts aren't tied up as it is.
you are another dumbbell. criminal background checks are EXPEDIENT. what about people applying for positions to work with children? you need to background check them because of the reality of child molesters.

but if a child molester has done time for a crime against a child and is let out of jail (well, my opinion is that he should have been killed; but my opinion does not matter no more then my ass hole.) he is considered to have done his time and paid the price for the crime... does not mean he can't have ANY job? what about a job feeding crocodiles? but this is not what this particular case is about.

and just because someone does not have a criminal record does not mean they are not criminals or inclined to commit a criminal act...

Are workplace shootings predominately done by folks with criminal backgrounds? Are the teachers caught committing sexual acts against the elementary school aged students passing background checks?

If there could be some consensus, such as 7-10 year limits in criminal background tracing similar to drunk driving and bankruptcy, then we would not have folks 35 years old, still answering for stupid things they did when they were 18 years old, that didn't even involve firearms or sexual acts.

And even then, we have the Brian Banks of the world, accused and convicted of a rape he didn't commit, with overzealous prosecution, lying victim and bad defense attorney.

A felony should not be a life sentence, unless you are in the penitentiary doing life.

My family owns a business & all of us are White family members or long time trusted White friends & two very trusted Cubans & that's it, not one drug addicted thieving black ex con, however from time to time an unsuspecting black saunters in with the hope of finding employment with us & the way we get around that is to give them an application which list basic requirements which include that all applicants considered for employment must be bilingual, many of them (seeing that we are based in Miami) think the alternate language is Spanish, but when it comes to that particular point in the application process, I kindly inform them that our required second language must be Russian, German, Romanian, Bosnian or Polish, get's em every time, Sorry Sambo, you're not qualified, better luck next time.
