I don't believe I said that it was markies fault. I believe what I said was everyone has markie out to be a saint, and wants to pin her bad choices on Travis, yes travis made bad choices too! If She had in fact intended to attend a party that she thought was at a house, and supervised, why didn't she leave as soon as she got there? If she seen that the party wasnt what she thought? If she didn't have a car then why not call her parents and say hey I thought this party was going to be at their house, with their parents here but its not can you come get me. I am sorry I am not trying to point the finger to one more than the other, I am just saying as an outsider looking in that, everyone wants to say that Markie did absolutely nothing wrong that night, that it was all someone elses fault. Its sad that this happened to her, but come on it wasn't travis fault she was at the party, it wasn't travis fault that she got into the car with him even tho he had been drinking, those are the bad choices that she made. Yes he needs some sort of punishment for drinking and driving. But he didn't force her to the party and better yet he didn't force her into the truck.

I agree with mr america and i do no what happened. probably more than anyone on here because she was my best friend and i have talked to the voyles family after the accident many many times. Travis should be put away for at least 16 years if not the rest of his life. And maybe you should find better friends because Travis is a douche and a half. Markie was not drunk at all and the only reason this all happened is because Markie was trying to get a ride back to her car to go home becuse she didnt want to be at the party anymore.There were a couple guys from Coffee county that were sober that were willing be driver her to her car but travis got in there face and told them that he was going to take her, and he got in there face like he was wanting to fight them. And Travis should have it worse. on him but he has gotten out very easy. He is not a good kid,he was a douche in school and out of school. And Markie would never date that douche.

actions speak louder than words I say ... just a few days later, Travis was at Walmart ... smiling ...(he must have had a weak moment)... here is the big question ... when your actions hurt others and your are truely sorry, you take steps to prevent it from happening again ... has he stopped drinking?

Markie was a very loving person and will be remembered forever. She was at the party because it was her friends birthday and she had called her dad to tell him that she was coming home because she did not want to be around all of the drinking and everything. Why Travis took her home, I do not know, but what he did was very wrong and he acts like it was no big deal at all. I honestly do not know how someone could act like nothing happened. He should be in jail longer than what he is sentenced for. She did not drink or pop pills or anything like this because I heard it from her parents that her tox report was clean. Stop talking about her and saying she was doing all of this if you do not know what really happened please.

I dont know alot about this except what I have read here and in the newspaper. But If Travis was so drunk, loud, and up in the other "guys" faces, wanting to fight...why didn't they just knock him out? Or better yet, these days everyone has cell phones, why didn't someone call 911?

So from what i have read and im not takeing either side but i have not read anywhere about someone twisting her to get in that vehicle so sounds like bad judgement on both sides.

well the reason they didnt knock him out was that they didnt want to fight, They had never met Markie before that night and im sure they werent willing to fight for her. The reason they did not call the cops was because duhhh there was beer and everyone was under age

markie was an angle.. there's no doubt about it. sometimes people are in the wrong place at the wrong time. she made a big mistake getting in that truck with travis.sometimes kids make mistakes this happens to everyone. to make a mistake is human, not to make good on a mistake is just shameful. travis cost this girl her life. remember, the key to all of this is he was drunk and had no licence because of a dui. he has never tried to apologize to the parents or accepted any responsibility other than jail. the girl who had the party continues to have drinking parties and doesn't seem to get the picture. trvis pressured markie to get in the truck that night. markie had a habit of trying to please the people around her. that was her downfall. her parents blame themselves, because this was the first time they had ever let markie go to a party where they didn't know the parents. i guess maybe we should just blame everyone but travis after all he's such a good kid right country boy. everyone can just make excuses for travis and pick on markie that's easy because she's not here to defend herself
