Why do we always have a good middle school team and the high school isn't near as good. Are the middle school coaches burning the kids out? Are the middle school and high school coaches not working together to keep these kids playing in a fun yet competitive enviornment? I've lived here for quite a while and never understood why the younger kids have so much success in football but the high school doesn't.

Could it be that when the middle school kids go to the high school they are not allowed to play their first year......? I have never understood the reasoning behind that...If they wont let you play why do they put you on the team, just to stand on the sidelines and watch.....how does that make one a better player?

Second thought: I attended last nights game and let me tell you, the fans, the band, the cheerleaders all were amazing. I really felt the school spirit. Go Warriors

i wish the cheerleading sponsor would teach the cheerleaders to spread out in front of the fans and lead them in something beneficial to the team. the players can hear the crowds cheers however last night the fans had to yell cheers on their own. we need the team to know they have our support. last night the other team had half the fans that sparta had yet they were heard cheering over everything. i want that for our group! not blaming the cheerleaders, im pointing this toward the sponsor. dances to band songs are cute but doesnt help encourage the team or fans.

i agree the cheerleaders should feel the crowd if we are yelling defense they should be to . i think they should work the crowd. there coach should get the girls to listen to what the crowd is felling. the whole time we are yelling defense the cheerleaders should be also for sure. its not the little girls fault they have to do what the coach says and they should be spread out in front of the crowd there is enough of them to do so maybe the coach will catch wind of this for sat game we will need all the noise we can get. EVERONE NEEDS TO BRING SOME KIND OF NOISE MAKER THE LOUDER WE GET THE BETTER THEY PLAY!!

I see this happen all the time ... several reasons for it ...
1) Many of the schools we play in high school have feeder systems from several middle schools. This dilutes the talent at the middle school but at the high school they get the cream of the crop and more selection
2) Kids mature differently - could be that our kids are peaking at the middle school age. When they get to high school the other kids catch up and pass them on physical and athletic ability.

I once coached middle school basketball, my team went 32-0 and 29-2 in back-to-back years. That same group of kids never had a winning record throughout their high school career. The maturity level was the culprit in that case.

I hope we do have 10-12 kids that stay with the program, keep learning, keep working hard, advance their skills and make WCHS competitive in a few years.

also i heard that high school practice is what causes alot of the boys to quit playing.

To me, unless the coach is continually picking on a kid, many other kids use the practices as an excuse. I always looked for those kids that played hard and practiced harder. Today too many kids don't want to put forth the effort at practice then they cry about lack of playing time.

Now, not knowing what a typical WCHS practice is like I don't know if the kids have a valid point or not. I do know that most high school coaches focus on those kids that show interest, willing to learn, and work hard. the reward is an opportunity to show the coach what you have in a game situation.

i feel like when sports become stressful they give it up . school itsself is hard enough and stressful enough. some coaches take the fun out of the game then its not worth the hassle anymore. i am saying this because i have seen it so many times. i believe in practice making them stronger but i also think the coaches need to remember these are kids
