Patricia, I have better things to do then to post on this ridiculous website; however, apparently you do not. Enough is enough. I am convinced that you have multiple personalities. It seems that you bash this league in one post and then change your tune in another. I sure do hope that you never intend on your little girl playing any type of school ball because trust me those coaches and officials will not tolerate this type of verbal behavior. Trust me I have seen it many of times with my oldest child. One bad remark or comment and she will be done. Now, I do believe that we play you guys soon in SYB. I am concerned that if we beat you all, which is unlikely because we have only won one to two times, will you get on here and bash us like you have this league. Will you talk badly about these babies who might beat you. I mean they are like 5, 6, & 7. Really?? Are you that freaken concerned. Let them be kids and have fun. It saddens my heart that parents like you ruin what fun your child could have. This has to be so embarrassing for your children and family.
Ur one for talking about bashing! Wow! I hope u go play in a mud puddle.

I would never say a negative thing about any child. Period. I'm not trying to bash anyone or the league. I'm just the only one who will put my real name out there and that makes me a target.

Listen you people are crazy. This is an organization for children's basketball. This is ridiculous that you adults are on here whining and complaining about stuff you know nothing about. Do you honestly think you could run a league or even want to give up your time for these children to play basketball? Doubt it... cause obviously all you want to do is complain. I hope this is not how you teach your children to act. The children that play on these teams act more mature than you adults on here belly aching about a bunch of nonsense. If you don't like the way the league has been run for 30 years then I guess you should probably either 1. Start your own league 2. Put them in another league or 3. Just crush their dreams and don't let them play at all.

this is the exact bashing and personal attacks that other parents and coaches are afraid of. Patricia, don't let "Allison" or anyone else run you off or make you back down. FYI "Allison" I've never read anywhere where Patricia has said anything bad about a child such as you've tried to lead people to believe. "Allison" you say you don't have time to comment on here but you sure blew a load out!

The coaches have to find their own sponsor for their team. Any one can sponsor that is willing to pay the sponsor fee.(the league probably has to approve the sponsors, I'm not sure) The sponsor fee is not that much (in my opinion compared to some others I know). Lots of coaches would like to know who you are because in a town the size of Sparta it can be a little hard to find 40 sponsors willing to pay the money. some sponsors go a little further than just the fee by providing socks, shorts, &/or parties for the teams.

How much is the fee? Have to talk to someone I'd like to have as coach.

I believe sponsor fee is 150.00, but you would have to ask league to be sure. All sponsors have been got for this year cause season has started. They always hold tryouts around October or November & then coaches will start looking for sponsor. You could go to try outs cause most coaches will be there that day to see the new players

How does somebody become a coach? Let's say there is a parent who is already an assistant coach and they want to coach their own team next year.

Let the board know that you want to be a coach, but they like to see a coach that has been in the league before.

So he would have to be a coach before he could be a coach? I don't understand. Sorry I'm kinda dumb. Are you saying that they don't like to have new teams formed by new coaches? Sorry I don't think I'm reading that right. Can you explain?

sorry any one can be a coach after a back ground check, but if they contact the board on a new team, the board will check to see if there is enough kids to make a new team, or help him or her to get a team that needs a coach, if the league let everyone form a new team there would not be enough player to fill all teams.

But also explain how well they did and point out not only the things they need to improve, but the things their team has so improved on. I have been around SYB for years and years and then some and NO...I am no relation to any of them on the board or whatever. But I think that we all know someone has to win and someone has to lose and it takes about 3 or 4 years to build a team. If the team is young, hang in there for about 2 or 3 more years and you will be surprised. Patience is hard, but will this really all matter ten years from now. Besides the fact that all of these kids enjoyed these years and they will. Being a team and a unit makes them feel good about themselves. Improvement and seeing it come full circle over time will make them appreciate what they have done and feel successful. The bottom line is we want our kids to become good, productive, and positive people so let's set the example.

I totally agree but that doesn't mean that if a team goes up on another team by 20 pts that they have to keep their best players in or that they have to keep scoring.. The coaches could be a little smarter in my opinion (or maybe a little nicer) and tell their kids to slow down, hold the ball, or stop shooting. Its not the other coach that is going to feel the worst (as an adult they should know how to handle it) it is the other players whose hearts will be crusehed & stomped on for the beatdown the other team didn't have to give..
