In my opinion you all look pathetic and lame starting new threads over and over and over. It's really sad that "grown adults" have to hide behind a fake name on a website bashing a basketball league for our children. If you don't like the way they do things (which you have said you don't numerous times) then don't put your kids in it to play. Geez how low can some people get!!!!!!!!

Here is an idea. Lets fix the league. Instead of saying if you don't like it don't play. There are several issues that. Have been brought up repeatedly.

1. League parity - some teams getting all the talent and others getting none.
2. Financials - it has become very evident that this league is a money maker. Will the league open the books and show their revenue vs costs ?

If issue #1 did not happen , most people would not care about #2. But when parents spend hard earned money to allow their children to participate in a league that does not provide an opportunity for all kids to be successful / that's a problem. In previous threads someone representing the "Board" stated that "This league isn't for all children." How is that ? Why isn't it ? They also said "if you don't like the league -leave". I'm paraphrasing because someone keeps erasing the threads. Open your eyes people. There are some major issues that need to be addressed . The pompous attitude by those in charge of the league is disgusting !!

who cares if they are making money. who cares if there wallets are gettin fat. they are not non profit. this is the land of the free. they can make as much money as they want. there is alot of work involved in this. alot of long days. the reece's have sacrificed alot. the only problem i would like to see addressed is the stacking of the teams or as i would like to call it the good ole boy network.

If you should come up with a way of making ever kid equal please come forward and show them how to make all team equal, and by the way come forward and show every one how to make life equa,l no matter how hard some work and some don't, please come forward ole great one and show them, I know everyone will want to be there and see how you can make 700 player equal,or just place them on a team where no one loses, or everyteam will be with in 2 points at the end of each game, if you pick a team like chris hickey he was first for two years and now he is rebuilding,so he can't be first every year, and other ooaches know you can win every year, but now you have a way that everyone can be first, but tell them why everyone can't play high school ball.
I know you will be glad to help
Hope to see you next year, syb will be open for your help

Notice, no one said every kid equal. That is really far fetched to even say something like that and try to take that spin on it. Interesting way you think.

What is most alarming is hand picking teams so some are set up for success and others are doomed from day 1.

I watched a game at Findlay yesterday and it was plausible to think that someone could put all those talented kids on one team and leave the other team so bare.

So Sir/Madame - no one is asking for equal kids. Just spread the talent around and the league gets more competitive, better to watch and MORE KIDS have an opportunity to win and be successful.

That's not too much to ask for.

1. One thing to keep in mind is the 'league' itself is probably not a profit making industry. I'm sure the costs are divvied out so there is only enough money in the league's account to cover the initial cost of the next season. There has to be a way of financing the next year or there may not be a next year. As far as the people in the family being paid... if they were an equal opportunity employer or volunteer organization they would have to purchase liability and workers comp insurance to remain legal. With the family being the ones doing the work that is not an issue. I have not been a supporter of them recently until I sat down with a couple coaches from other leagues to find out what it would entail to start, organize, and maintain a league of strictly volunteers. At the end of the day schools and refs would still have to be paid and recurrent costs such as uniforms, trophies, and balls would occur. If a league only generates enough revenue for the current season there will be very few future seasons. 10% of the people do 90% of the work. That's how it goes in churches, social clubs, and other volunteer organizations. I'm not gonna do 90% of the work. I really just want to sit and coach my child from the sideline, which I'm sure her coaches just LOVE lol.
2. As far as equality among the teams there are some things I feel would change. Players have the option to remain with a team and build it's abilities year after year, but there could be a rating system for new players or players who change teams. Have a panel rate players during try outs and assign fairly to the teams based on that blind draft. It doesn't keep a coach from building up their team. If the coaches are given a blind draw of new players it does a few things. First the coaches will work harder to build better skills and relationships with players to have a better team for the future. Second, it keeps any coach from being able to stack a team based on the draft. Third if players are remaining with coaches longer there would be a need for more teams and build the league even more. As it stands when parents know a team will be losing a large number of players due to age next season they pull their child from that team and request a team who they know will have a strong team due to the number of returning players already on that team. I don't think allowing parents to request a specific team fosters good sportsmanship. A blind draft ensures there is fairness in that respect. Teams will have strong years and not so strong years. I'm ok with that. By not rewarding switching teams simply so your child is on a different winning team every year, you allow teams to develop rather than happen.
While statements I have made may not have been well thought out, written, or balanced I do want to see the league grow and improve so even more sponsors will want to participate and even more kids will have the chance to play.
Also I'd love to see some cheer squads form. Maybe start with a home and away squad for each bracket until there are enough participants to have a squad for each game.

The reason is that team is together is because they started playing together from beginning and whomever the coach is had enough sense to draft the kids that thought had talent. You return to same team every year until you move up. That might be one reason everyone thinks its stacked but the coaches that have those had the presence of mind to draft those kids in the BEGINNNING!!!!

I've sit back and listened. The ONLY reason this crap has started is because somebodys mommy or daddy got their feeling hurt because their childs team or coach sucks. Just ride the year out put your kid back in draft and if they are any good a good team or coach will pick them .
