a few points. In a civil suit it isn't beyond a reasonable doubt... it's that there is a good chance what is a alleged happened. Also civil trials also do not have to be unanimous. Majority rules. So six out of ten jurors thought there was a reasonable chance what Farris alleged could be true.... not exactly a hit out of the park. If anyone paid attention back then they would know that most of the deputies under Goff were let go. When Goff came into office most of the deputies under OConner were let go. It's part of the turnover. Most deputies have enough sense not to get involved in the political aspect of their job. This guy pulled a jury that thought there was a good chance he was wrongfully terminated.

In most federal civil cases, the jury's verdict has to be unanimous, just like in criminal cases. In this case, the jury was individually questioned by the judge if they agreed with the verdict and it was 8-0.

"Good chance" isn't exactly right. It's called "preponderance of the evidence", which means that it is more likely than not or 51%+ that the plaintiff's accusation is true.

BK is better than the Sparta Expositor, at least you can get information from him.
This case resulted in 65K , unless, that was another lie from one of our commissioners.

And my hats off too, to the officier that do a good job.

So, should White County sue the ones who lost for the money White County has to pay out? The money is every citizens here in White County. We are paying for the miss-deeds of elected officials.

How about the $50,000 White County paid out on the Jerry Cole Jr. case? Should we sue him for that, and also, what about suing his former boss (past-sheriff).

Should we take a look at the aggregate total of law suits filed against the Sheriffs department to see how much money White County citizens have paid out?

How about the upcoming lawsuits concerning the Doyle killing and also the lady who was wrongfully imprisoned?

Will our taxes go up this year because of these law-suits?

How about having a re-call election?

Let me get this right. The deputy that was fired was polling for Goff ? Are you kidding me ? He needed to be fired just on the grounds of being a 360 degree dumbass. What if Joe Biden was caught polling for Romney in the last presidential race ?

What the deputy in question should`ve done is quit and then support Goff for sheriff.

Little one sided there aren't you sport? Sure, police and deputies are given a hard way to go without a doubt. But it is ENTIRLEY UNACCEPTABLE for people in their position who are hired/elected to uphold the law, and to ensure that each of us are safe ABUSE their powers and ... think they can do whatever the heck they want to do.

It is sickening and it is still current and will be current as long as we have to keep paying for their arrogance and overinflated egos.

Really????? What a dumbass comment. Do you mean to tell me that whomever we work for in our life time we have to believe in everything they believe in? A deputy is a HIRED position. The company I work for supports gay rights and gay marriage. They donate thousands of dollars each year to that end. I DON'T SUPPORT THAT. Should I be fired?

Keep sucking your doobie there Skippy. Sheriff Shoupe will remain in office if he chooses to run again. There are still enough folks in White Co. with their heads screwed on straight to see what is going on.

Whoa pony, pull up your pajama bottoms and listen carefully. The question I asked has nothing to do with whether he will be re-elected that remains to be seen but ... as usual you didn't respond with an intelligent answer just your star struck love fest for Shoupe shining through.

Perhaps the fine folks of White County will get tired of supporting Shoupe's addiction to stupidity.

Keep moving on folks, nothing to see here. SMH

This wasn`t a issue of political beliefs. The duputy is question was trying to help get his boss fired by working for the other guy. Try having people working for you that are actively working on getting you fired or put you out of business. If the deputy didn`t like his job or boss then quit. He was playing both sides of the fence. My guess he was also a snitch and he should`ve been fired. Think for a minute and see if you would like to have someone that works for you helping others in trying to get you fired. I for one would not trust a scumbag SOB like that nor would I trust a scumbag SOB like that with my life and thats what happens sometimes in law enforcement.

And after all that he got paid in the lawsuit ? lol

Which is his federally protected right to do. In this country, you can not be fired or mistreated because of who you support politically, especially not by a person that is elected by the people to represent them in enforcing the law. The sheriff himself broke a law that he himself is supposed to enforce. The Sheriff is very lucky it didn't cost him a great deal more.

Then he goes to the Expositor and tries to libel Mr. Farris with the same B.S. they pulled out in the trail that the jury knew was B.S. to protect himself and his department from looking bad once again.

It wasn`t about political views !

It was about some low-life POS who was a snitch and a bum. The sheriff has nothing to do with county politics. The sheriff enforces the laws in the county not make laws. I would`ve fired him also on the grounds of not be trust worthy.

Think about it outside of your liberal eyes for a second and put your self in his shoes. Would YOU let a person who worked for you openly campaign for the guy you were running against or would you even trust that person even being around you ?

I would`nt... not for a second. No political campaign can have someone in it working for the other side. I own a business and I do not let people work for me who disagree with me politically. Matter of fact, I try to screw their life up every chance I get when I found out they disagree with me. One of those I`ll do it to you before you have a chance to do it to me. Only thing where the sheriff messed up was he didn`t do it right. You gotta be smart when you crack someones head open.
