We don't need a wheel tax. Years ago when they stuck the monthly dumpster fee ($5) on our electric bill, they said it was to eliminate the wheel tax. Does anybody else remember this? Time to do some calling I guess.

Years ago? Well that I am sure is accurate but times change and we have to accept that change sometimes. In other parts of the country folks pay $75.00 or more for their vehicle plates each year. We could afford to pay $35.00 or $40.00 a year for ours and the difference go toward this new Federal mandated policy.

********JUST FOR THE RECORD I DON'T SUPPORT THE NEW INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS BUT I DO WANT TO BE SENSIBLE, REASONABLE AND RECOGNIZE THAT AT THIS POINT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

I say the county refuses to do either, it is unconstitutional for a government to force businesses to run a certain way. If we don't do anything, pay the fine or get insurance, what are they going to do? Occupy Sparta? Remove our leaders? We've tried using the soap box to take our country back, and the ballot box. The jury box won't help us now. The only thing left is the ammo box. The purest form of patriotism is dissent.

Well, I disagree with violence but I think to vote you should have to take a simple intelligence and psychiatric test to be sure you know what/who you are even voting for.

As far as refusing, we will be fined what can equal millions of dollars in the long run something has to be done.

You people do what you need to do, Not my problem. Obama said no new taxes on people making less than 250K. So the Co. can't bill me for that. I know what I'm talking about I look at the CNN and ABC news on the TV.

PS My boss cut my pay in January and said it was Obama, he think I'm so dume. I know how them rich folk are he just a stealing form me.

If you think Obama, CNN, or ABC are telling you the truth, you are mistaken. The county will bill you, unless we demand a referendum and defeat all attempts to impose new taxes and fees to pay for it.

know some freinds or have family in counties other than sparta? use their address as place of residence if they pass a wheel tax,,every vehicle i own has putnam plates and i am not giving white county nothingggg, until they get some kind of control over their frivolous spending, they talking to pay county employees insurance as taxes needed to offset it,well who saids you as an employer have to furnish insurance,i pay my own no help from an employer.its funny how cookeville has grown and is neat in appearances and sparta is rundown like ciadad juerez, mexico, and been this way for years, you build a courthouse that is like a sore thumb, you build a farmers market unneeded when fairgrounds would been perfect, you spend thousands of dollars for property on a new bus garage when property already exists inside city,on and on this handing out taxpayers money to their good ole boys

Does anybody on here actually think a wheel tax would even be a drop in the bucket as to what these health care taxes will cost you? I say no taxes!

It's a start! The money will have to come from somewhere. No one likes to pay more taxes but being a responsible, productive person in society dictates that we will have taxes.

Do I want taxes to go up? NO, but someone come up with a solution then. Either way, we have got to come up with more money to fund this.

I want to see the county do a revamp of their insurance policies. Raise deductibles and copays for the workers, take away some benefits and that will lower the amount it will cost and by lowering the premiums it will also force some folks below that 9.5% requirement. Less folks for us to have to supplement.

Also, reduce the staff where possible. I don't work for the county but from what I see whenever I have to deal with anything funded by the county, there will be 1 person working and 2 others looking on.

White County needs help, the system is broken we need a group of non-elected individuals perhaps even volunteers who can ban together to make the officials accountable.

People need to learn to manage their money. they should put FIRST THINGS FIRST and on down the line. Instead a lot of people spend for pleasure and what ever they want first and expect the next person to pick up their Ins prem. not fair. What about Farmers, Self Emp people and all that have to work for what ever? They do not get all these pd holidays and vacation pay that some Co workers get and tax the Little Man Old People and People not as lucky as Co EMPLOYEES. no way can that can be fair. Let them do like the the rest of us plan on that bill and manage with it. We all like to eat out and Go Go GO BUT it takes money that we need in another slot. Set aside some of that pd holiday or vacation money and use wisely

Why the solution is simple; every Democrat that voted for- you know who--thus bringing in Obamacare should pay double or triple taxes-after all "its for the common good." Just put your money where your mouth is as the old saying goes.
Never happen but it should, uninformed voters should have to pay the tab. Everyone that had eyes knew what this man was about!!

I somewhat agree. Problem is that when you work at a local store or restaurant, or doctor's office or lawyers office who has maybe 10 employees they can't and don't pay for employer provided insurance or even offer a group rate. Have you priced a policy for general coverage?$380-$400 a month for me and the same for my husband. Now if you are lucky to get $8.00 an hour (which would be high for a local business) then all at once you are paying around 33% of your income for insurance. On top of that you then still have maybe a $1,000 deductible.

I'm sorry but this isn't fair to the average person. However, I don't think what Obama is doing is fair either and I predict another financial disaster w/in 2 years of it going into effect.

Here is where I agree. These same folks who can't afford to have health insurance walk around talking on $300 phones. They get a new one every year or so. They have usually 2 cars to a household where possibly could do with one. They get their nails done, they go out to eat and buy cigs to smoke. Where their Apple Bottom and Skinny jeans. They pay $80-$100 for a pocketbook cause it is in style.

People do have to start taking responsibilty and the idea of forcing insurance isn't such a terrible one but why not start with the insurance carriers. Tell them they can't raise the rates and reduce benefits every year. All the same debates remain as before nothing is getting fixed.

The problem is the whole healthcare system sucks.
It's costs are outrageious it's medicines are deadly.
We are way down on the list of life expectancy and out of sight on our infant mortality rate.
Who pays for this is not the real issue the American medical system kills over 700,000 people a year.
Who is complaining about that"

The medical system is overloaded with drug seekers and individuals who refuse to accept responsibility for their own welfare (ie., obesity, smokers, non compliant diabetics, at risk behaviors etc.) People want a magic pill and it does not exist.

The medical system is going to get far worse with ObamaCare. Doctors will have no choice but to replace quality with quantity in order to survive. They will have no choice but to increase the numbers of people they can herd thru an office in a day to keep the doors open in the face of dwindling reimbursements. ObamaCare has us on the road to creating a "Third World Country" in regards to healthcare and personally I think that is what Obama wants.
