Has anyone heard that one of the new football coaches got arrested in town for DUI this week. Heard he spent some time in the jail. The head coach needs to explain why someone like this is working with our children.

Why would we hire someone from out of county to coach football, or any other sport when we have people from our own county needing jobs? We have qualified teachers who could do the job if given the chance/job. There were 40 to 50 people that applied for jobs with the school system this year for only 7 to 10 teaching jobs. There has been a few more this summer that have been hired. Why give our jobs to out of county people, when we have the qualified people here. All we here is shop in Sparta First. We need to Hire in Sparta First also. These kids are our future in keeping Sparta and White County growing.

this is the biggest crap site I have ever seen. Somebody called me and said something about the football program was on it. So far that has been the only thing true on it. Leak's was not filled until Tuesday. The reason that it is filled with someone from out of town is because there was no one in county worth hiring or at least wanted the job. There are so coaches in county that could do the job but don't want to put up with your rumors and gossip. As far as the guy that got arrested, he was just an applicant. How in the world could that be any reflection on the head coach. Are any of you responsible for the guy that killed his mother. Get a life and turn off your computers!

Maybe the coaches and administrators realize that the most qualified candidate might well live outside of White County. I think it is important to give the job to the person who is most deserving, not the one with the most local ties. Handing out teaching jobs to locals is the reason I had some crappy teachers in White County. Don't get me wrong, I had some wonderful teachers, too. But, let's be honest, it seems like teaching in White County's schools is like a sorority or fraternity. If your parents taught there you're a legacy and automatically in.

The best way to get Sparta and White County growing is to hire the best available candidate, not the best local candidate.

how many best available out of town candidates have they been in the last 20 years. and you say get white county growing , the only thing that is growing is the number of out of town football coaches. its a joke just like you saying handing out teaching jobs to the locals. im sure cookville or any other county dont have any teachers that are crappy as you call them. and im sure cookville would hire a good white county teacher over a so so teacher from putnam county horse chit. all of the out of town out ,out of state football coaches in the past 20 years have done one thing right moved after a couple seasons. we will never, not with this or the next one have a program if the coach is looking for his next job when he comes to sparta. you start with a coach that the kids know will be here the next day and years to come. so if your all pumped up on out of towners coaching , teaching our kids and think they are and will do a good job i dont really know what im doing wasting mine and your time. the only coaches that have done a good job with sparta football is the ones that were from sparta and the ones that stayed 8 or 10 years and tell me who that would be. all of these coaches that come here come for a reason and not the right one. so good luck to you and all of your out of town teachers and coaches that do a wonderful job. now and the next one to come and that will be like the rest soon.

Can you tell me who was the last head coach from Sparta? I know it's been more than 20 years. Nobody's saying noone in Sparta is qualified. I really don't know. I'm just for hiring the most qualified person without consideration to where they come from. Please note that I mentioned the fact that I had some great teachers. I just had some crappy teachers, too. I simply want to see the best candidates hired.

Don Farley was hired in the early 80's, he grew up here. Got on the outs with Dycus over personal matters. Farley hired Jimmy Maynord as an asst. and Maynord became the head coach when Farley resigned. Maynord lived in Sparta till around 2003 or 04. He drove to Murfreesboro, Baxter and Smith Co. till his step daughter graduated and then moved to Cookeville.
I think the rest from the late 80's till the early 2000's have rented or lived outside of Sparta. Brown bought a house and I think still lives in Sparta and wife still works here. Kerr bought a house but we know that didn't last 2 years. New man Malone is renting.

Coaches come here wanting to make a difference but soon learn Sparta is full a several people who care more about things other than winning. To much back stabbing and parents wanting special treatment. Lack of money doesn't help.

Absolutely right. I know folks that wait for years for a teaching position in White County while the kids with parents already in the White Co system get teaching jobs days after they graduate. Sparta is so bad for this, not just in the education system.

not saying your wrong but who are the teachers that have been hired right after they graduate. all i was up holding was hire white county people first. wasnt saying hire a teacher or coach just because of who they are. just keep white county folks first in line.

so your telling me they got hired before anyone that same year. your right you dont know that and from reading one of your other post. you said the best way to make white county grow .is to hire the best available candidate not the best local cabdidate. could you please tell me how that would work. and if you wont a bigger place to live try nashville or memphis . and it has really helped cookeville to grow ,there school system is busted. you might even try living there better hurry though there schools maybe closed
