Perzel, nine others charged in probe

By Mario F. Cattabiani and Amy Worden

INQUIRER STAFF WRITERS

HARRISBURG - Rep. John M. Perzel, the former speaker of the state House, was charged today with 82 criminal counts in a sweeping scandal involving sophisticated, multi-million dollar software programs paid for by taxpayers but allegedly used for political campaigning.

The Philadelphia Republican is the most prominent political figure thus far to be charged in Attorney General Tom Corbett's long-running investigation unofficially known as Bonusgate.

Nine others with ties to the House Republican Caucus were also charged, including five former top Perzel aides and former Rep. Brett Feese of Lycoming County, who once headed the powerful House Appropriations Committee.

"Perzel was architect behind a sophisticated criminal strategy that spent nearly $10 million of taxpayer money purely for campaign work," said Corbett, a Republican whose critics had, before today, accused him of protecting members of his own party.

Corbett is keeping his word. More than Rendell ever did. He is earning a vote.

Crank, you have to be kidding. You are the biggest republican "blowbag" on this forum. Dont tell me you are that stupid as to believe that Corbett is Mr. Law & Order? Look closely at Mr. Corbett, he has people with him who brought down Bud Dwyer, he has botched investigations, looked the other way when "friends" are involved and is anything but a law and order man, this man craves attention and desperately wants to be the governor of Pennsylvania and will do anything to acheive that goal. As time goes on and more comes out the public will see that Mr. Corbett has many skeletons in his closet, check with some of your "connected" republican friends Crank we know many mutually and off the record they will tell you what the man is all about. How is it Crank that you were so wrong on the state budget? Get your head out of your backside and you will think better and smell better!

Crank, how can you function with your head so far up there? Joe is correct, looking at some of your other posts you are a right wing nut ball and a big blow bag. Corbett is useing his office to further his political career, if he were a democrat you would be spouting off about abuse of office. Look who he nailed, John Perzel, Perzel has been out of the loop for a few years, why is his governors campaign hooked up with Bob Asher and some others who have questionable backgrounds? why is he playing games with peoples lives to further his cause? All you and your republican buddies talk out of both sides of your mouths, law and order my butt, Corbett dosent have the guts to go after the real problems, he is picking and choosing just enough to get some statewide press coverage, the public will soon see that the Leslie Nielson lookalike is a farce and you too Crank are a farce.

Thanks Ralphie. Hey Crank why dont you get a couple of your right wing weasels and go read the health care bill the democrats just passed, read it over a cup of tea with your tea bag buddies. Then go get your Corbett signs ready for the next tea bag rally with Hannity, make it look like you are a million strong, who knows maybe Sara Palin will sho up with some words of wisdom or Levi.

Just as long as you stay home, it could be a good day. Maybe you should be in Virginia. Or New Jersey. The libnuts could use your advise.

You must forgive me, as I have no clear concept of any issue, and no one really cares for me. I make up for my lack of civility and complete lack of class by attacking those that post relevant comments that the tax-paying public need to know.
