Northern Ky. Police to Buy Moveable Cams

NEWPORT, Ky. - A northern Kentucky city is using federal funds to buy portable surveillance cameras for police to use in crime-ridden neighborhoods.

All I can say is HaHAa where is the bad crime I been hearing about in newport. Newport police just want to be like a small cincinnati if you ask me at the most what is there a bunch of black young people hanging out in the west end.

Yes they can watch them sell their dope too. Then they can watch your house and get the people coming and going. The world has turned out so nice that the Police need these things. Next thing you know the Newport City Commission will start saying the cameras are cheaper than Officers and lower the Department numbers even more. But back to crime. Crime is down in Newport because the Officers work very hard to keep it that way. Thank you Newport Police Department for everything you do for this up and coming city!

I for one think cameras would be a nice supplement to our police force.
The ones at the Levi have already proven their worth a few times.

levee? I agree in one way w/ this in another i don't. I don't like the idea of a camera monitoring my driving, but put it on my property etc i don't care.

I am not a big fan of traffic cameras either, but I think a few cameras placed in potential crime hot spots would be an good deterrent and an excellent enforcement aid.
They dont even all have to be live, dummy cameras also work as a deterrent when mixed in with live ones.

Newport Chatter is now Jim Kidney himself. No other person would know anything about Andrea the joke Janovich and the Levee cameras all in one. But to mat cables you are a very stupid dude. Cincinnati is over run with crime because they cant police there. Covington has them same crime Newport does. Both the cities run hand in hand with stats. Newport is coming around as far as getting safer. The population is rising due to filling the homes the Housing has finished. Once Jan Knepshield and his partners on 13th St. finish their drawings and they are approved they are going to start building up there. Newport will go in the wrong direction though if the Newport City Commission acts like the Newport School Board with finances. They need to hire more Police officers.
