stop about the guns already, one person lost their life probably over something stupid, if this person wanted to kill the other person and there were no guns they would have just used a knife or some other type of weapon. The real question is what is wrong with people that when in a fight they go to the extreme these days.they probably know with this justice system they don;t have much to fear a slap on the wrist and then they can go back to living their life

Ever heard the saying "guns dont kill people, people kill people." Very sad for someone to lose their life, but you dont know the situation! Dont be so quick to judge!

Again don't speculate until you know the whole story. I know the person who fired the gun and am shocked that he could have done this. If you knew him you would be shocked too. There have been other times police have been called to this area because of differences. Still doesn't make the outcome right but there has to be bigger issues than we all know. You never know what will push you to your limit. It is a sad ending and unfortunately one that cannot be rewritten. Focus more on support for all involved than speculating who should own a gun.

Hi, i was related to the wife of the guy tht was killed. It was so horriable last night. The reasoning of him getting killed was so stupid. The man that died which was my uncle were only married for 2 weeks. He will be in our hearts forever.!

I totally agree--we do not know what made him get to his preaking point. People are so quick to judge, but where is the support for the families involved? I feel bad for the family that lost a loved one in this way---why not say prayers for them so that they can deal with this instead of wondering what happened? Noone can go back and rewrite yeserday--now they all just need to try and cope--and not listen to peoples accusations.

UNTIL THE WHOLE STORY COMES OUT, NO ONE CAN ASSUME ANY REASON FOR THE OUT COME OF THIS DISPUTE. I FEEL FOR THE FAMILIES ON BOTH SIDES. I KNOW THE FAMILY OF THE MAN THAT FIRED THE GUN AND THIS COMES AS SUCH A SHOCK. I WILL KEEP EVERYONE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

I don't care short of self defense what "his breaking point" was. Unless you are defending yourself or some else from bodily harm or death "YOU DON'T SHOOT SOMEONE"!!!!!!!!!!

Police: Southampton man killed after argument with neighbor (updated at 9:20 a.m.)
By Staff Reports, August 14, 2009

Last updated: Friday, August 14, 2009 9:23 AM EDT
andy Kirby said trouble has been brewing for several years between neighbors Chad Douglas Kirby, 37, and Andy Santo Buttermore, 35.

That trouble boiled over Thursday night, state police at Chambersburg say, when Chad Kirby shot Buttermore at about 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of Lindsay Lot Road in Southampton Township, Franklin County.

Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner pronounced Buttermore dead at the scene at 7:57 p.m. and Kirby was arrested by troopers.

Lt. Wade Lauer of state police at Chambersburg, said it is “too early in a thorough investigation to jump to conclusions” or release information.

He would not say what kind of gun was used and would not confirm Sandy Kirby’s claims that Buttermore used a baseball bat and that Chad Kirby was beaten up.

Sandy Kirby, whose husband Mike is Chad Kirby’s cousin, said this morning that Buttermore moved across the street from Chad Kirby about three to four years ago with his wife and nine children. A number of disputes have taken place between the Kirbys and Buttermores and their children in the years since, she said.

Sandy Kirby said state troopers have been called to the scene on more than one occasion. Problems started Thursday when Chad Kirby went outside to ask or tell Buttermore’s kids to stop skateboarding in his driveway.

An argument ensued, then a fight, and Sandy Kirby said Chad Kirby was “pretty beat up.” Sandy Kirby said a baseball bat was used by Buttermore to break car and house windows at the Kirby residence.

A spokeswoman in Magisterial District Judge T.R. Williams’ office said Chad Kirby is charged with one count of “criminal homicide.” No bail is set for criminal homicide suspects.

The neighborhood is a quiet, rustic area, south of Mainsville near the edge of Michaux State Forest and includes a variety of styles and ages of houses.

The Buttermore home is a modular and four bikes could be seen at different locations around lot this morning. Also, a roadside mailbox was knocked off its post at the Buttermore house and a small ramp like one that could be used for skateboards was seen lying by the road.

More from Cumberlink...
The argument was over Buttermore’s son and a skateboard, court documents say. Buttermore went to Kirby’s home with a baseball bat and “began to destroy various property on the outside of the residence,” court documents say.
At this point, according to court documents,“Kirby armed himself with a handgun.” When outside, he didn’t hear anything but saw Buttermore with a baseball bat. Buttermore “approached Kirby swinging the baseball bat,” court documents say.
Kirby then retreated to his deck, court documents say, where Buttermore threw the bat at him. Kirby said he pointed the handgun at Buttermore and told him to get off his property, court documents say. Kirby then went back inside the house to check on his children.
Kirby said he heard glass breaking at his front door, court documents say, armed himself with a shotgun and proceeded outside and came around the corner of the house to the front door. There, he observed Buttermore “outside of his smashed front living room window,” court documents say.
Kirby then fatally shot Buttermore with the shotgun.
The front window of the Kirby home was boarded up this morning.
