The best seafood on Long Island is at Oaklands in Hampton Bays. The best crab cakes ever. Pick any fish dish and get it blackened. Yum.

Very bdisssapointing list and reviews. These reviews could have been written 20 years ago and probably were. Riverbay and Louie's are hit or miss, at best, and Legal Sea Food, on Long Island, is a mall phenomeneon and nearly always a miss. While these places remain popular, the consistancy, creativity and quality are extremely questionable. Paddy Mcgees is a treat and The Jolly Fisherman, while old fashioned, always servs a quality meal. There are much better places I could mention, but I wouldn't want to because if these (for the most part) smaller, better qulaity places start to see a lot of new traffic, I would have trouble getting my favorite table there.

Sam, you're right on with this commentary on Riverbay. They are jerks at Riverbay, I used to be a regular there, but I wouldn't give them my $$$ anymore. Who needs to go out and spend good money on average food and be abused?
Sam wrote:
Nice list of restaurants, too bad you can't change the management and attitude of Riverbay. Be prepared to wait and wait and wait some more. Forget about honoring reservations, the chosen few friends and regulars will jump ahead of you. Plenty of other places with equally as good food and less of an attitude.

Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips. It's still the meal you can't make at home!

I always liked the chicken sandwich too.

They missed the "boat" by not included The Nautilus Cafe in Freeport. The food is amazing. Get on the mailing list and you can get some great coupons. Althought some of the places listed are good, I have to agree with the previous poster who questioned if the locations pay to be included.

I agree many of these places are overrated
and can be pricey...I think if Peter gets his meal Comped they get a good review!
This is a bad review, It is unfair to the many great seafood restaurants on LI...
This would need to be a more in depth look!
The story should have run for several weeks.
What a lazy story!!

Crabby Dan's in Glen Head is a great local spot with outdoor seating. The entrees start at $12.95 and go up to $32.95 for surf and turf. They also have a great lobster special going on right now, its only $29.95 for a 2 1/2 lobster! its only monday- thursday.
