It's a Republican fund raiser that put money in their coffers. They make around $12,000 to $15,000 a year. Only a small portion goes to the food and fuel bank.

And the Democratic Town Committee does diddly and cries that they have no money to compete. Always nice to have built-in excuses for poor planning and poor candidates. My family does not go to the festival for anything but the event, itself. And, of course, the delicious event. This event speaks for SW as much as does the Wapping Fair.

What does it matter who puts on the Strawberry Festival. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the SW Food and Fuel Bank. After that expenses are paid and YES there is a profit for the SWRTC. However, the Democrats have their Pancake Breakfast and they have a profit that they put in their coffers as well. They use the SW Firehouse for this fundraiser and they are making a big deal over the fact that the SWRTC is using the Rotary Pavilion. I’m sure that the Democrats will be having other events to raise money for their upcoming election and they will make a profit. So what……. The pettiness that is going on needs to stop and all of the Town Councilors need to grow up and stop going after each others fundraisers.

I could not possibly attend. Yes Maria. There is a Mr. Strawberry. He is red but that doesn't make him Republican, it simply makes him sweet and juicy. You can come to the Strawberry Fest and still sleep well at night. There is no admission charge. You can listen to the bands, stroll among the crafters, and even enter your child in the Little Miss Strawberry pageant where your child would receive gifts paid for by Republican dollars and therefore not be available for campaigning. But more importantly, come and enjoy a wonderful strawberry shortcake. They do cost $4.00 but the festival will donate 50 cents to the Food and Fuel Bank and you can donate $3.50 to the South Windsor Democrats (if you haven't already gone over your limit) to fight those local issues the Town Council weighs every week in South Windsor like the war in Iraq, unions, and a persons right to choose. Yes Maria, there are hundreds of thousands of ripe, red strawberries waiting to be picked today and they do care deeply about you and your partisan beliefs, but strawberries know nothing about partisan politics or petty bickering. They're just delicious!!!

Bush or Iraq - the money stays right here in town helping the Food Bank and helping to make this town a better place. Local Republicans are always showing up at town events, ceremonies honoring local individuals, school events to support our teachers and students, sporting events, donating significant dollars each year to the food bank, attending important meetings/hearings on behalf of the residents - go to these things and you will see what I am talking about. George Bush has nothing to do with what we do here in SW - don't let an "R" or a "D" stop you from enjoying a great town event that focuses on children and families and delicious strawberries. Dems really should stop whining about what Republicans are "DOING" and do "SOMETHING" themselves - the energy spent on attacking a great town event is deplorable - the energy spent on attacking signs - the energy spent on talking about everything but what the DEMS do - what do they do? Have they simply become the party of "armchair commentators"?? I would love to see local democrats at town events, talking and listening to people - planning their own events (fundraisers or otherwise)- instead of tearing down EVERYTHING that the Republicans try to do.

The Strawberry Festival ment something when there were still strawberry patches in town (like Dzens on rt 30). Now the berries are shipped in from God knows where. So. Windsor certainly has lost it's village charm. It was a much better place to live 25 years ago, before the yuppie invation and farmers like Dzen and Krawski selling off their land to developers.

They're coming. Hide. Find any green leaf and hide. Don't let them pick you. They will take you to a place where oil flows freely. Someone will jab a knife in you and rip out your greenery. Then they will drown you in cold water. and place you in a bucket where an older woman named Jan will mash you with her feet after adding in some secret things purchased from Laura Bush. Later, they will scoop you onto a biscuit and spray whipped cream on you. Then some aristocratic South Windsor Republican will eat you with nary a care before you will eventually end up in the South Windsor sweer treatment plant which will cost taxpayers millions after Bazzano sells us out to the MDC. So Hide. You must resist the temptation to show your red side. Talk to the blueberries. They are unionized and allow each berry equal rights. So, hide. Hide deep in the fields and watch out. Especially for Bazzano when he orders you out of hiding. He is NOT your friend....

Party affiliation blinds deaf and dumb voters.

Cary,
Let's start to use this message board for the common good of all the residents of South Windsor.
Please, everyone stop the stone throwing and let's start doing good for the fine people in town. Leaders are supposed to stand up for what is right and just for all of their constituents.
As a gesture of good will and doing good for all, here is an opportunity for you to set every thing straight, please consider the following proposal.
Your quote this morning almost discribes the Strawberry Festival event as a bipartisan event.
"Prague said the festival is run by volunteers from both political parties".
Fantastic!
All polotics aside, in the interest of assuring all the residents of South Windsor that the Strawberry Festival is nothing more than a Community event, give credit were credit is due.
Please credit the volunteers by posting a list all the wonderful people from both political parties particapating in this year's festival. It is only right that these people be recognized for their efforts.
I look forward to seeing the list of volunteers.
Thanks,
Dan Jeski

Oh no, your computer was made in China, they limit human rights. The interest on your condo, well that goes to Dubai. What to do now?

I try to buy American whenever I can. I support democracy. Bush has destroyed our economy. He spends hundreds of billions a year on the war in Iraq that should be spent at home. Local Republicans spend and spend out of control last 4 years. Town budget has doubled under Republican watch. I will not be attending Strawberry Festival. I will not put even one penny into the hands of the Republican Party. They are a disaster at local and national level.

Good for you Dan. The pettiness that is going on is happening on both sides. If one side does something the other side has to retaliate. It will be interesting on Saturday to see how PARTISAN Cary will be. I know very well how partisan he can be. Everything is about politics. Even friendships are political. And yes Cary this is me using my real name and not like the one you used the other day "Deputy Dawg". Please use your real name when you respond.

No more town employees and town equipment at Strawberry Festival. No more exploitation of the taxpayers. The Republicans can have their cake and eat it too. That wasn't so hard. You didn't really need to steal from the tazpayers all these years. Now you understand that honesty doesn't have to be a four letter word. Good work ladies and gentlemen.

To all the Dems in SW - I was just thinking on this fine morning - one day prior to "THE Fest" - what will you say to your children who see the signs, or watch the Hot Air Baloon as you drive by Nevers, when they ask, "Mommy/Daddy can we go to that cool Strawberry Fest?"???? Possible Responses: 1) No Davey that is a bad place swarming with Republicans who give money to the food bank and try to get elected to serve our town and offer their ideas. 2) No Susie - people that run that event have big, bad "R's" by their name - they do most of the cool things in this town and we are tired of them getting most of the credit. 3) No Davey, Daddy is allergic to Strawberries and Mommy is allergic to Cary Prague. 4) No Susie - we thought we would hang out in the back yard and pretend we are having our own Strawberry Fest - but no bug spray - that stuff is worst than synthetic fields for your health. 5) No Davie - those are the people that say they are giving money to the Food Bank but we think they are funeling the money to president Bush. 6) No Susie - I think they might have some of that synthetic turf material around - those Republicans are secretly trying to poison all of us with that turf - just because there are no studies that show the any dangers, "Don't believe it Susie - remember we really did not walk ont he moon either". Well - just having a little fun folks - hope to see everyone at the Strawberry Fest!

Good for you, GOP! You put on a class event every year! My kids grew up looking forward to attend every year and I wouldn't miss it! The Democrats from my generation used to always stop by and attend. I do not know why this new generation of Dems has to oppose everything. I can't recall the last time they did something positive or which benefited the community. Once again kudos, republicans, for your outstanding community event!
