Christian Science and other abberant "faith healing cults" is deceptive in that they follow the teachings of a person who has misinterpreted the scriptures of the Bible. For one thing, their "healers" CHARGE for their services! When the Bible says, "freely you have received, freely GIVE"! Did Jesus or the apostles charge for healing? Of course not. Apostasy Watch just did a brilliant teaching on the issue of faith healing and where the people following these false teacher are being led astray, by failing to seek God for themselves! The title of this MP3 is: WARNING! FALSE DOCTRINES MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH! http://www.apostasywatch.com/

They should seek to fix their screwed up paper too. CS Monitor used to be one of the best sources of non-biased news. Not anymore! Nothing but a bunch of fanatic journalists trying to push their socialist agenda.

Christians are encouraged by scripture to study to show themselves approved to God,(not religious organizations, churches, authority figures, or starters of new religious persuasions). There is NOTHING scriptural about hiring a CS religious practioner and paying them for their services. In fact, it's contrary to the Word of God. And, I might add, sheer nonsense. Ok, so Jesus can and does heal, but unlike a CS practioner, doesn't charge for his services. Also, to deny children proper medical diagnosis and care in this day and age is barbaric to say the least. Medical care coupled with prayer is wonderful. Prayer alone, while a baby or child lay in excruciating pain, and possibly dying an agonizing death, as has happened in all too many cases is satanic, not Christian. Babies and little children of CS parents dying of medically preventable diseases and sicknesses: http://www.childrenshealthcare.org/

Anyone who can read, can study the bible for themselves to learn the truth about healing, and everything else that pertains to life and godliness. They don't need a practitioner, guru, teacher, leader of some new take on religion, Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, or anything else. I've had many Godsent supernatural healings without the help of man. I've also had many healings with the assistance of physicians AND through prayer. Sometimes Christians need assistance, in childbirth for example, but not the assistance of an unlicensed, medically unskilled midwife. http://www.ondoctrine.com/10chscie.htm

Believers were told to 'test' the spirits to see whether they were from God. Further, the bible says that the Spirit and the Word agree! Therefore, the Spirit does not "trump" the bible, but is in agreement with the bible.

The Bible doesn't need to be re-interpreted. If we are truly seeking TRUTH, the Holy Spirit will indeed help us interpret correctly, according to God's will. The Bible IS his will. "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him,'If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

if born again christians could agree on what the bible says your argument would have more force
you just dont get the plan of salvation as i understand it
that is that the bible is a maze
if one comes thru it & rises above it to god status the bible has fulfulled its purpose
this is the meaning of the dark nite of the soul

He laid it out very plainly and succinctly when he said, that IF his followers would live according to his word, they would become His disciples indeed, and THEN they would know the Truth, and the Truth would set them free. I know he didn't lie about this. There is a way to know the Truth. To know Jesus in a progressively greater measure is to know the TRUTH. He is revealed in every book of the Bible. The Holy Spirit will reveal these almost hidden nuggets to the deeply seeking Christian, even in the Old Testament scriptures. That doesn't mean that any of them would achieve God status however, even the best of them. "Dark Night of the Soul" btw, was a book written by San Juan de la Cruz, a 16th century mystic. This was a powerful book, and showed that St.John had a depth of spiritual understanding achieved by very few. I admire his work very much, even though I'm not Catholic. St. John was persecuted by his own church, as most true Christians are persecuted in one way or another. Modern writers are mistaken into thinking that somehow the Dark Night of the Soul experience is about depression. However, it is far from that. But they're false take shows how easily folks can mistakenly judge a book by it's cover, or title.
