I wonder how much Huron Township is saving by doing their assessing in-house. In this day & age when the majority of communities are turning their assessing over to their counties because it's cheaper, I would like to see an expenditure comparison between what it is costing the Township now as opposed to what it would cost for the County to do it. I would also like to see the assessor's office budget so it could be compared to what it would cost for having the county do it.

Seems like a conflict of interest to me! Hmm, I'm gonna assess and judge what I'm worth?!!?? Actually, sounds like a way to over-assess and get more money out of people!:O We're watching YOU!

According to the proposed 2010 Township budget, the assessing department shows an increas while the Fire Dept. has to lay off 2 out of 9 firefighters.....hummmmm I don't get it. Hurry up and send assessing off to the county so we can get our budget realistically balanced.

With values dropping like they are lets hope the assessors office is working hard to come up with some true values on our homes.

Call for an appointment with our $47,000 part time a year assessor sometime in February. Board of review is in March.

Actuall a bit of FYI we use to spend around $67,000 a year on assessing when Time O'Donnell was the assessor and Wayne County was assessing all of our commercial and industrial also being the ones who sign our tax roles, which is not innappropriate as it was stated a year ago by the Supervisor, she also stated going in house would save us $$$$. NOW WE SPEND OVER $150,000 a year. We'res the savings. Huron Township did Tim O'Donnell wrong, hiring the Supervisor's friend!

Don't quite have your facts straight there. Ask why Mr. O'Donnell isn't working for the township. Ask why the state is coming down hard on him. Ask why he failed his audit and big time in Grosse Isle. Ask why the state rewrote assessing laws because of Mr. O'Donnell? Then ask again why he is someone elses bargin? Gee why don't we fire them all and have the state take over the assessing department. It only cost Chelsea a couple hundred thousand dollars to clean up after their screw up assessor got audited and the state stepped in. Nothing like saving money.

Try to avoid arguments with your family and friends. You will be less than satisfied with the way things are around you. Keep the peace with your parents. If you are working, the pressure will be on, but after hours the mood really improves! Relax and get enough rest.
