This isn't somehting I typically do or start, but as a fair warning to the people of the Tri-state area, I figured I would post this little rant. My grandmother died this past Friday (Mother's side) and we had the funeral on the 18th. This is very hard for my Mother being that her Father just passed away 6 months ago. During the services held, with my mother's mother in a casket next to her, the funeral director from said buisiness thought it a good idea to start telling my mother about her father's final expenses and what hasn't been paid. On her mother's funeral day, this man has the nerve to come up to my mother right at the ending of the service and start talking about finances.
Me and my siblings went to the Funeral Home and tried to tell this man how unprofessional he was during the services; however, he kept insisting on his being right because he needs to get paid too. Of course, as most of you understand, I conceided to the mans point of it being a buisiness and that he must make an income; however, I didn't believe that it was the right time or place to bring these things up.
Short story is, some choice words were used after during our talk and the fool STILL didn't offer a sincere apology. These people will NEVER see my dead body in their office.
Sorry

Sorry to hear about your lost..I can say i know what its like! But not taking sides and reading your post but if your grandfather past away 6 months ago and the bill still hasnt been paid..You got lucky cause most places want the money with in 30 days! I agree and different place and time would have been okay. But hey like he said its bussiness! And him being around this for a long time maybe it just doesn't take a toll on him any more! But we always use Phillips in Ironton, Ohio they are great!

Life insurance policy was supposed to take care of the bill. Also, even if they weren't, you would expect them to call after a month or so without getting paid instead of waiting 6 months and bringing it up at the funeral. They could have called my mother, they know her number or they could have brought it up the next day when my mother went to get the death certificate. It was very unprofessional.
Also, the arrangments to for my grandfather's six months prior had already been paid half. They recieved $5,250 before the funeral. They had gotten some money, it's not like we were going to hand over 5 grand and say F the rest.

@Sorry: Thank you. Not that I was even close to my grandmother or even really liked her, I just thought it was rude how the man approached my grieving mother. Again though, thank you.

It honestly doesn't bother me that the man needed to get paid, I understand that more than he'll ever know.
He offered an apology to my mother finally, after I lost my temper with him.
It's just sad that this "man" had to practically threatened to finally offer an apology to my mother.
They did very good with the arrangments and everything with both my grandmother's and grandfather's funerals, but I lost my temper after my sisters' explained it to him the SIXTH time and he still insisted he was right in doing that.

That's okay, he was able to see clearly through his greed exactly how pissed off I was. I just hope he's learned that the next time he does something like that, it might not be a man like me who steps in next.
Next time, it may be a greiving son with a CCW.
For this man, I will always remember you.
For the rest of my life I will remember exactly how much "respect" you have for people.
I just hope I left the same impact.

So my dad passed away three years ago and we too had his funeral there. My dad was an organ donor and during his funeral the fat ass one there thought it was an awesome ideal to tell my grandma and my mom how bad my dad looked after they took what they needed. He also told them that he had no eyes. He also told my mom that he only had to make two incisions to embalm him cause they pretty much drained him when the organ harvesters where done. My mom cried for days over this she felt so much guilt and still does. When I picked up his death certificate I confronted him and he felt the need to tell me the same story I gave him a few choice words and left. He is a pig and I hope that he never has to go threw that disrespect with his lovedones. Oh and my dads funeral was paid in full upfront.... He also didnt offer an apology he was heartless and rude and i would love to meet him in a dark ally...

Drew just wants to be paid like everyone else when you complete a job you expect a check,Most people would of never touched another body if the first one had not been paid for.Bad timing and bad business. He needs a good Public relations person I think I will apply for the job.

This business is like no other. Proper protocol, class, compassion, sensitivity, manners are all expected to be top shelf. Drew was being thoughtless.

I agree most places get paid up front, sorry forget waiting on insurance..... Do u people know how long an insurance settlement can take??? Drew has bills to pay & has to take care of a family..... My aunts & uncle had to pay Chapmans straight up when my grandparents passed only a couple weeks apart!!!!! Quit whining & pay the man & if u don't like it u have the option of taking your lived ones someone else, if it were another place of business you'd all be pissed right now cuz they would'be turned you over to a collection agency!!!!!!!

I got ur dumbass, I don't give a Shit what u think about Drew, its his business & I guess he'll conduct it the way he wants...... Nobody goes to work to just socialize they go to get paid & that's just what he's doing!!!!!! My uncle & grandfathers funeral was there & we had no problems with Drew!!!!! Drew has worked very hard to get where he is, I can remember when he was going to school for it, he has worked hard to get where he's at & just like him I would ask for my money as well..... Sorry, Drew's job is a very difficult one, you try working on someone that you've known for years, & you also know that persons family..... He actually stood there whole time during both funerals & was very consoling...... Sorry u had a bad experience with him..... As for the Griffens ruining Chesapeake, ha that's a good one, if they have in any way then their standing in line with a bunch of people!!!!! The Justice's as well, so please stop it....... Drew is only doing his job, as I said earlier maybe he shoulda turned you bitter people into the collection agency that I'm sure he coulda done....... If you don't pay your electric bill it gets turned off, if my doctors office doesn't bill my office visit the right way I get billed for it..... If you don't like Drew then take your business somewhere else like you proclaim your gona do........ As for Drew his business builds everyday, kinda like Walmart he doesn't miss any customers cuz for everyone that decides to take their business else where he gets we new customer, he must be doing something right he's been running it for how many years??? SMDH, get ur facts up,big he was as horrible as you people say he woulda already sold out....... LMAO. Now read my post just like you told me........

& by the way since I'm such a dumbass read john first 2 post the insurance agency was supposed to pay...... Drew doesn't have a agreement with the insurance agency, he has an agreement with you when you walk in the door asking for a service....... As I said it can take months for the insurance to pay out, if they even do, Drew gas bills like everyone else..... So to grow up, go get your own business & let all these people come in for a credit account & let's see if u get paid!!!!!! Smartass think before u type..... Or read before you type!!!!!!

I have no idea who anyone on this post is, or which funeral home it is for that matter. But the fact is although he didn't have the best timing , you should have already paid for the service. Your being deadbeats pay your bills and this would have never been a problem.
