That Kenneth Cook currently employed in the district will retired and is seeking employement again with the board.....public meeting on the 18th of 600 at the office of Board of education..

So he retires and then wants to be hired back...are they taking applications from anyone else? Can one of the assistants move up? Does he take a pay cut? Is this double dipping? Or is he beating the state that intends to take 20% of his retirement if Senate Bill 5 is passed?

Just saying maybe we should show up at the meeting and see
been a long time

mr. cook has needed to be gone for some time now, but this board will probable let him retire and rehire him and pay two assistants to do his job for him. not bad for a school system that says it is broke.

Half of the village administrators are doing the same thing. Why is Carl Vance still called Chief of Police? Seen him out patrolling lately?

As a parent w a child in elementary i will have to face school issues many more years and would personally prefer younger more innovative non double dipping person in the position

Don't let him draw retirement and a salary. Then lay people off. If he wants to retire let him. This is a special meeting they are trying to hide it from us. Why wouldn't they do this at the regular board meeting. It's time we show that we care.

People need to be upset enough to show up for this! The school is in financial trouble, yet we have an overpaid superintendent who's wanting to double dip and two assistant superintendents. Why do we have two? Money is being wasted, yet they are always wanting to cut back on programs and teachers. If people even remotely have a care for what's going on in our school system, they'll show up for this and try to stop it!

How bout South Point Schools by South Point people. Not people who could care less about our community. I will be there but I am not the best speaker. Let one cut off the top save several at the bottom. Save jobs of people who spend time with the kids.

Look I heard about this post and wanted to make some things clear. It is not double dipping, getting paid from the state and the county are two separate funds. It does not cost the count any more money at all. You all are being misleading going on here. People want you to think the county is paying me twice. All I am doing is the same job I always have but I am collecting on my retirement, paying taxes on all of it Wich only helps every one. It is like if any one here stayed working and also took money out if there 401k. This is all hipe stick with all the real problems

Thank You
Mr Cook

I don't know who that was that posted as me, but I assure you, I will keep taking your money. The schools are in financial trouble, and I get to make nearly 100K yearly and have a couple assistants that get paid almost equal to that. I am the structure that holds this school system together. I deserve every single penny I get. Furthermore, I really don't care what any of you say due to the fact that I live in Proctorville. I am your dictator. Worship me.

if you work as many years that it takes to get a retirement then they deserve it if they dont get it now they would have worked for nothing everything is being taken away and rehire you guys do it to your selves come on lets talk these people in to investing in an education then they can apply for the job but guess what no one want to and who would want to live in South Point it sucks I dont blame you for living in Proctorville people who work at kings daughters dont always live in ashland lol come on put your a** were your mouth is get educated and get in there and take the jobs

Seriously, the School district is talking about not replacing retiring teachers, laying off teachers and aides, and lately, they have even been turning the lights off in the halls at the high school to save money! The school board wants to entertain the idea of bringing Mr. Cook back at a reduced salary--- but keep the two assistant superintendents? Does anyone realize that one assistant superintendent salary will pay approximately 4 aides yearly salaries? The schools have to pass those state tests, and our kids are going to suffer with less teachers, aides, and more kids in their classes! Not to mention, now we don't have all the lights turned on??? What a great idea, lets lower the lighting on a bunch of hormonal teenagers. What monkey came up with that idea??? I bet we are the only school around that doesn't value our kids enough to keep the lights on. What about the cost to operate that School Board Office? I heard it costs the district $10,000 a MONTH to operate that place--- and it's only offices to a handful of people! By the way, one of the Assistant Supt.'s has a secretary! What's that all about? I think the school board needs to start making decisions in the best interest of the students.
