I played for this coach and I was 6'2 and weighed over 180 pounds and i could have played tightend or wingback but instead he plays freshman in spots that deserve to be the seniors

just because someones a senior does NOT mean they deserve a spot its the kid who plays the best, shows up for practice, try's, and has a team player attitude that's who should play.

south point finally has a coach that thows his a## from a hole in the ground and what do you want to do run him off? this is a young team that i saw played hard the whole game. there not the most talented team but they do play hard and that is all you can ask

i was at the game also and i kinda agree with everyone. this offense they run is built for speed which they dont have with the exception of the quarteback. if u dont have speed then this offense wont work. the times they did good running was when they ran up the middle. i am not here to bash anyone especially kids but the dickess boy could have had some good runs if he would have had bettert vision. they were holes but he didnt hit them. one thing is for sure they have to try to pass the ball more cause defences are going to line 10 guys at the line and sell out on the run cause that is all sp does. they made a good pass completion to end the half and i think they are going to have to do more of that simply to put pressure on the defences. my opinion is they need to mix it up. run some power t and one back set and shotgun just to get the defences spread out and not everybody on the line. no offense but sp line is not the biggest or strongest so you have to spread the defence out. i knew what the plays were going to before they ran them and that is bad. if i knew what the play was going to be just think what the opposing coaches will know. if the coach reads this mix it up!!! it is obvious what you are doing and it is not fooling anybody.

i agree with you fan, the only notable speed is the qb so why not put him in the gun an let him pass an design runs for him, it will spread defenses out an keep them honest

First of all DJ has no codnation. At all. He gets shoved around all practice. He may be tall but he cant do anything. We have tried Payne at saftey and that was a huge fail. Mucy would get shoved around at right tackle. Hamm at right guard would be the worst mistake you could do. Hamm is way better as a TE or WR. Stop tring to run your mouth, we are a young team, basically 10th or few 11th grades. and some 12. btw at the game we only had 5 to maybe 6 plays that whent negative. Minford had 20, and the only way that they got any major yards was by a busted play and the QB would scriambe in the other direction. and out run or DE and Corner. btw Our line was better then last years by far. So any ohter idea for position? cuz we prolly have tried it
I'm not sure who you are but it looks like you need to spend more time with Mr. Halcombe I have watched DJ watch all of the "good players" practice and play on Friday as well as Monday night and I think if he was just given the chance he would suprise all of you nay sayers. I suppose if you think your so tuff just line up across form him and see what happens I have and he knocked me silly.

Well for all of u out there Tevin Mitchell is my son and his dad isn't one of the coaches out there on the field! He plays on his own merit! My son was thrown into the quarterback position last year bcz he is athletic and can FLY! You can only work with what u have. If more boys would come out to play football or make grades we would have great teams. Do you think I want my son out there running for his life at a position that he normally doesnt play? My son is an athlete and plays hard the entire game on both sides of the ball. And why should someone from Huntington care about South Point.....the Highlanders got ROCKED by South Charleston.....worry about your side of the river!
I think Tevin could be a great QB if given the time to develop maybe the coaches could try some type of wild cat offense.

Why does the varsity football coach have every man playing out of position, is this guy paid to lose or what????
He has a 6'7 275 lb junior (DJ)) sitting on the bench and wont play him even after the second quarter when his teams ass is handed to him by Minford tonight??????????
He has a quarterback thats 5"2 that cant see over the line so he has to scramble every play ?? why not just run the ball?? there are plenty of other players on the team that can throw the ball and scramble, try someone else >??? nahh their dad might be an assistant coach shit on second thought dont....
Ask me what to do???
I would start Josh Payne at safety he has speed and height and can intercept passes... I would bring mitchell and dillon as linebackers, mucy at right tackle, crabtree at strong corner, trey at weak corner and use dj as a nose taackle....
On offense, Josh Payne at quarterback, crabtree as wide out muncy at fullback, ham at right guard, dickess at left end...
Instead of using talent where it belongs the coach is giving the ball to kids that their fathers are on the field as assistant coaches that arent as talented and the coach is playing freshman right away while not giving some of the juniors and seniors a chance to start the season out right...south point deserves a coach that is fair to the kids and is not listening to junior league coaches about who was good on c team its time to grow up we are in the big leagues now!!!!
Thank you DJ is a 6'8" 315 pound JR. and I think he is being over looked, however I have to disagree the coaching staff is good and the formula they use is what won Wayne a state championship a few years ago but they do need to give some of the other kids a chance.

Now Allison you should not cuss, although I appreciate your zeal for taking up for your cousin. By the way he got his chance tonight with six minutes left in the game big diesel 74 (DJ) got in the game and was able to prove to all the players on the team how good he really is and if he still has nay sayers on the team all you have to do is call his number at practice on Monday and he will show you as well.
