QUOTE]This woman has lived through 25 years of hell and devoted her life to education and her spotless reputation (by the way she has four degrees). Those circumstances have been going on for the last 18 months of this woman's life. She was forced to leave her job at Jasper Middle and relocate in order to protect herself from her abusive husband. Who by the way beat her until she couldn't work for a month.
She wasn't going through hell all of those years, and she relocated before anything to that extent happened therefore she wasn't forced. It wasn't a physical abusive marriage.
No, it was a mentally abusive marriage and that's besides the point. It did; however, become physical with pictures to prove it. How marriage ended is beside the point. She just deserves some rest and peace for a change.

Shannon Michaels taught my daughter. She also coached her in softball. Does she make mistakes? Sure. Is she human? Of course. She is definitely not getting fair treatment on this issue. "You without sin, cast the first stone." People, we have all made mistakes, and we have all been put in situations that we have had to pay for. Think about it. This is small-town politics at work. If you are a person with the least bit of political pull, you can make someone's life miserable. The sad thing is that you feel the need to do so.
Shannon is a great teacher who actually CARES about her students and is DEDICATED to her job. She is not above mistakes, but you cannot question her dedication to her job. I DO NOT think she should be put on trial twice. She will go to court and deal with this situation as best she can, and that should be the end of it. There should be no school board review or second trial over her work ethics. It's like apples and oranges - two totally separate things. I personally wish her the best of luck and pray this all works out for her.

If we're gonna fire all the Marion County teachers who drink after hours and have extra marital affairs, we're gonna be losing some educators around here.

What I dont understand why people keep saying well their are other things going on in the schools and teachers are dating and all that shit. This issue has nothing to do with what other people is doing or rumors going on about what people are doing this is about Shannon not everybody else. ALot of people on here need to leave her alone and everything else alone in peoples live and stop bringing up what pther people do worry bout your dam selfs. This shit pisses me off everybody in peoples buisness. GET a fucking life people!!!!!!

Emily called you yesterday to correct the lie Sherri wrote that she moved to Pikeville to escape 25 yrs of hell when we both know that is bullshit. She moved to be with Emily who you opened your home to her. Telling her she could stay was nice that year. She said you all wouldn't let her this year but if you want to call me you have my number.

It is sad to see what some people will write on here. Shannon is a great teacher and person. She made a mistake and she will have to deal with it. If we were to put all the teachers who make mistakes on here this would be a busy board. Allen Pratt is a fantastic principal and he will handle this as it should be. It is the job of the principal school board and Director of Schools to handle this. If you don't like the way they handle it don't vote for them when they come up for re-election.

I think its very sad what happened to Mrs. Michaels. Bless her heart, she couldn't even go out to have fun for one night. You people can't honestly believe that teachers are not real people and don't deserve a break from screaming ass kids to sit down and have a drink once and a while! No one seems to care when a daycare owner or construction worker gets done in for a DUI. She obiously isn't drinking at school. She was set up by these ppl from the get go, and had she have not been ratted on she could be resting easy at this point.

I agree with this person. The good things teachers do are never publicized. I taught with this teacher and I have never met a more professional, well-organized and caring teacher. She always went the extra mile to help students who were having problems. Before you criticize, maybe you need to walk a mile in her shoes.

So if I were a teacher, and knew the drinking laws, it should be ok to drink and drive.....NOT. If I were a teacher, it would be my priorty to be seen in the best possible of circumstances. She had a choice to drink, get a cab and stay in a hotel or to drink and drive back to Marion County and maybe get herself, and others hurt and killed in meantime. Grow up people. It is a shame that again the selected few should be given a clear path while others doing the exact same thing are doing their time. That is a big part of the county's problem-----the eliete, select few who get away with drinking, gambling, drugs, pimping and more. Let the average Joe do it and watch them shut it down! Call MADD-I will stand behind them.

I do not think Ms. Michael's supporters are condoning her drinking and driving. We are simply saying that it has nothing to do with her job as a teacher. She will go to court and be found guilty or not. If guilty, she will serve whatever sentence is handed down. We are simply saying that her PERSONAL life should not cross over into her PROFESSIONAL life. One thing has nothing to do with the other. If a doctor drinks and drives, do you pull his license? If a lawyer drinks and drives, do you pull his license? I think not, and that has been done. Yes, if she is found guilty it was wrong. No one is questioning that.
