I think it is time (probably past time) to remind them that WE put them in office and WE can take them out of office.
There are some things that the public needs a voice in and not just their voices.

What things are you talking about. All of the City's Meetings are open for public comment.

to any meeting I have attended the only ones recognized to speak have been those that were invited to speak BEFORE the meeting started. The public is welcome to attend, this is true, but our dear leaders have come to their decisions withOUT we the taxpayers.
I look at single people and single parents, who are out of work, working only part-time, with no real jobs in the area. How are these people going to pay all the increases. Our local govmt. isn't doing anything to create jobs for our area. But they are cutting things out. The summer food program was great-but why did someone from Grundy County need to be over it. The Parks and Rec dept is overseen by a Coffee County person-----and we have local residents that could be doing the work and keeping the money local.......open your eyes people-my wording may not be right, but we the residents are getting the shaft.

AJ Fox's (Rec Director) is being paid by a recreation grant from the state. This grant required pretty strict qualifications (bachelors degree in leisure studies, etc.) that could not be met by any of the Marion County Residents that applied. If your so upset with the way things are ran why don't you run for office. And why don't you use your real name instead of hiding behind k9handler to moan and cry about your current office holders.

I have not lived in S.P. since 1997 so I am out of the loop on current events. I can tell you this though, when i did live in S.P., I had a small biz I worked part time in addition to my full time job. Guess whom my best customers were?? Your Mayor Mike Killian and his brother Randall. I was able to go to the grocery store several time due to my commissions from their purchases. That's why he will always have my vote!! I have know the Killian family all my life. We grew up together on Holly Ave. Mike has to make the best decisions possible for the city, which won't make everyone happy. That's part of the responsibility of being a leader! Why not get together as a community and support him? Tuff times do not last but tuff people do! You have a smart ,bright, entusiastic Mayor! Those that know k9handler know this person by that name, and his or her profession. Since you have not lived in this area for over a decade maybe you need to move back and face the realities that we the residents face day to day.
Maybe someone is going to run against him and the other council members.........hmmmm it may be in the works now.

I think S.P. is pretty muchlike any other small town. The qualitry of life is good without all the problems of the big city.

elections will never work here, let's get real, there is to much of the "good ole boy" system here. i mean if you think about it, the best paying jobs here are over on 1 street. nothing is done about the drugs in this town, cant even lets kids go out and play here anymore without the fear of them being approched by a drug dealer. i am sure that one day this town will be taken over and the only ones to blame are the city heads.

I have never been a fan of mike killian but have all the respect in the world for his family. his father yap has done more for the poor man in this town than anyone i have ever been around.With this said I think he is doing a good job.he is not going to do anything to harm this community while he is in office.he loves this town.his sister mary faye is a quality person and randall with all his problems is really a decent guy.I think he tries to make decisions that will be in the best interest of the community and that is all you can expect.I do agree with the drug problem it is out in the open so everyone can see it here.Just look over at Harolds store or the alley behind and you can watch the deals take place.the law turns there heads as if its not happening.It dont take a rocket scientist to know who the main dealers are. I thought when Ronnie Lancaster went to the county maybe this would finally be dealt with.But he is here in so.pitt. all the time still.guess this is his BEAT to patrol.Well he has to make his rounds by the pawn shop to collect his cut of the profits from all the stolen goods that he makes sure are not given back to the hard working citizens of our town they were stolen from....... he is a low life that God will make pay in the end....hope he gets caught by the TBI. He needs to be tar and feathered

[i agree with casper this town is not what officials make it out to be it is not safe and yes mike is a nice man his family are good people but that doesnt make mike a good mayor it does not mean he is not involved in illegal gambling or anything else illegal in this town like drugs it is top secret that alot of the black drug dealers supposably have guns in his name now whos to say how they got the guns im not sure maybe it is through honest ways not sure yes yap was a good man and did good deeds in this town but mike isnt yap

maybe you need to come back to live with us residents, the common folk, the voters. You have been gone for over a decade. Why don't you try doubling and tripling households. These houses were single family designed. Grant or no........somebody could have been trained for the jobs that were at least Marion County RESIDENTS. Don't get high and mighty on us. We aren't stupid. And don't go to the family tree of who used to be what. The fact is he is an adult, able to make his decisions. If it were Yap, maybe he would have handled everything diffrently. Or maybe explained it better. How many times have I seen the mayor and council people in my business? I can tell you in 2 years I have had the pleasure of seeing 1 of them 3 times. WOW!!!!!!!!!!

I have also heard that lancaster goes in the pawn shop, on duty, in unifrm to play the poker machines.

AMEN! as I sit here 69% of the votes say we are and only 4% say no and the rest Don't Care.

And for those who don't know your long time city manager just retired to save the city money. So who's gonna watch out for the people of S.P. now? Mike? Ronnie? I don't think so.
