i will not be donating any of my things to Goodwill anymore due to the new cameras they have installed, i can see putting them in the showroom but i heard they are even watching their employees work and at break and even outside. i hope the money i donated did not go for this foolishness, i want my things to go to needy, to help with medical equipment and so forth, but from what i hear not much help is being provided but someone has to be getting very rich with the prices they are charging. if they thought there employees were taking advantage of them fire them, dont waste our donation money on foolish waste!!!!!!!!! you can leave your things on the porch at the church where swaffords used to be and they will GIVE the stuff away

I agree with this comment. I used to shop in the goodwill stores, but not any more. The prices are too high and you can not even move around the stores. The more they can pack in the more money they make. I now shop in other stores. I also heard that they do not treat their employees well. I thought that the purpose of these stores was to help in their communities, now the only people they help are the managers and big shots in power over the employees. As for the cameras, I think this is stange that they can afford this when they could not fix the air conditioning so customers could shop in a cool environment. I think that corporate needs to rethink their use of money.

Stopped donating to them a while back. Their prices are only a dollar or so under what a new shirt would cost at Walmart, minus the stains. I thought they were supposed to HELP the community by recieving DONATED items? I heard of a story about an elderly gentleman who didn't have enough money to purchase a suit for a funeral, and they turned him away!
Hmm...yeah, that's "goodwill"

Goodwill is a business like any other business, therefore they must protect their interests just as WalMart, Foodland, or Hibbetts. People will (and do steal) from Goodwill. Employees steel as well, and take advantage of time on the clock. When people donate to GoodWill they know that the items will be resold for profit. It is not a place for handouts., it is a place to purchase necessary items at a deeply discounted price. If you want your handouts, go see the government. I hear Obama is using my tax dollars to support the bums pretty well.

some homeless people can't get off their ass because they are disabled, of which most are veterans...never ASSume things. Complaing about tax dollars? That makes no sense...

But disabled veterans get disability checks that people who work unwillingly DONATE there tax dollars to support, they would be able to buy the jacket. If they hand out one free thing to somebody they have to everybody then where is the profit ? It's a business just like any where else they just happen to get free stuff to sell to make their money

as for the manager she is rude and punishes her employees for doing the EXACT same thing she does! i have seen first hand several of the managers walk out of the building after they had purchased merchandise that wasnt even put on the sales floor. and to address more facts post, Goodwill is not a store like Walmart ect, it is a government funded organization and your tax dollars are going to it to hand out a few bed pans and a few wheelchairs every now and then and the rest of the profits are going into some CEO's pocket. i worked at Goodwill at one time and i saw a wheelchair request hand on the wall in the managers office for the entire length of my employment never touched to be sent to the appropriate parties! this forum was not started to debate homeless people needing jobs or so forth, this was to make people more aware that the Goodwill is not a place to help people as they contend it is a place where a few people are getting rich. Granted the Goodwill does employ people that might not otherwise find a job, but speaking from first hand experience may GOD have mercy on the poor people that have to work their with their double standards for management and the common worker.

and as the comment that was made about the manager not caring if she lost this person as a customer you are exactly right about that you can tell she could care less if she looses any customer by her attitude toward them. and the only person she care about helping is herself.

I am here to say that when you take something up to the counter to pay for it, DO NOT take your eyes off of it until the transaction is over to make sure you get all of what you paid for and thought you were buying. Make certain that the cashier puts ALL of your items in your bag. There has been several people to tell me that they paid for stuff then got home and they did not have some items that they paid for. Check your bag right there before leaving the counter do not trust anyone.

If you pay by check then have your check partially filled out before you go up to pay then that way all you have left to fill out is the amount. Do not fill out the amount until you have seen all of your items put in your bag. To have to stand there and fill all of your check out makes you have to take your eyes off of the transaction and yes some people will take advantage of this to keep something for them selves.
It is no wonder that Goodwill had to put cameras up and people certainly should not blame them for doing it either.

Be sure to watch your buggy also. We were at a store in Chattanooga last night and a woman tried to snatch something out of another woman's buggy and the woman caught her and the fight between them was on. I am not saying to fight over what is in your buggy mind you just keep a close eye on it. I have always watched mine.
