The tolls will remain in place forever, no doubt. And how will that alleviate traffic: everybody slows to pay...?

Even if above-ground alignment is not supported, Caltrans ought to hold on to these properties and sell them at the highest prices for the PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA. If this project can be stalled for 4 decades, I don't see any rush to sell these properties at low point. Those renters have gotten cheap ride off the rest of us. They ought not to have the entitlement to get these properties without paying fair-market values!!!

Sell those properties to the highest bidder. California needs the money and you don't KNOW that they will ever go up. They might even go down! Let's also make sure this boondoggle of a freeway extension never, ever gets built. There are too many trucks on the 210 as it is. Build rail up the 5!

Let's put toll booths for ALL drivers going into and leaving South Pasadena. They want to be an island, so let them. I think a reasonable toll for each time anyone, especially South Pasadena residence should be a minimum of $10. This money would go towards the tunnel.

No one even brought up the problem of the on-going cost to for ventilation, does it not take energy to turn them fans?

Y'all, why do you want even more pavement in L.A. and lose even more greenery? How about this: get rid of several million illegal aliens, and traffic alleviates as much as or more than adding more miles of pavement.

OF COURSE real estate prices will eventually go up! Selling the parcels now at the low point would simply be another example of this State's irresponsible fiscal policies.

Bad legislation by Portantino that will go nowhere. He proposed this to try to sabotage the efforts to build the tunnel alternative for the 710, which is overwhelmingly supported by the communities impacted. He is doing this to pander to the hardcore anti-710-even in a tunnel-nitwits in South Pasadena. These have been lately joined by a small vocal minority in La Canada, who don't like trucks on the 210 (but like to get the profits that these trucks make for them???).

I believe now is a good time to sell the houses, allowing people of relatively modest means to acquire them. The tunnel project should prohibit all but passenger vehicals, except for local delivery light trucks. Long haul, heavy goods trucks should be specifically prohibited.

I still belive they need to finish the 710.

What I don't understand is the people opposing it, if you knew there was a planned freeway to go through there and don't wanna live near a freeway, then don't buy there.

I avoided buying property in Palmdale, because there was a right of way for the Metropolitan bypass freeway, and I didn't want to have land that was meant for a freeway, and I knew it could be problems down the road.
