Our Mayor has gone over and beyond to help Veterans and community members, when the board refused to assist in certain program events, she was there to show her support. Everyone has been writing comments since this incident occurred, now ask yourself" what have you done for your community without expecting to gain anything in return?“When have you given something of your own to someone in need? When have you assistant with one of the city council members to make a change in this community? Everyone is posting that the Mayor is giving the city a bad reputation but what does it say about you posting all the negative remarks about our mayor?
Instead of showing outsiders that we are a weak community, why not show how strong this community is, show them no matter what hits our city we will stand by our leaders through the rough times and good. I am embarrassed of my community members posting such negative remarks… you just made us all look bad.
You shall be judge one day…

The issue here is about raising the expectations for the people in this city. Elected officials should set an example. Cortez has never done that. This latest incident with her husband is proof of the lack of respect she and her family has for this community and for her position as both mayor and council member. She should resign ASAP.

Why, exactly, should she resign? Because of what her husband allegedly did? Her family?

Do you have any thing that SHE has done that shows why she should resign? Her husband and family are not elected to the city council.

Stereotyping (I.e. all veterans must be the same) is never a good idea.

K.O.:
No. I don't really know what to even request, or what we are allowed to get, since has been strictly a closed session agenda item.

How about requesting all background materials on that agenda item and see what that gets you?

City has a form at the counter
Just ask for all "writings" related to
name of person
name of company
you can ask for specific items such as agendas and minuets,(ask for the RDA too)
writings includes e-mails etc.
If these are low income funds they are not the City's money
Money belongs to some agency with lots of strings attached
We find out who's money is/ was involved and get that agency involved

I wonder why you are bring up stereotyping
however many vets have problems
I had one suicide and tow alcoholics one from Korea and one from Vietnam who drank themselves to early deaths.

This was the Mayor at an official City function not Christina personified
no indication why he was disturbed enough to have to leave
Because she's a girl?
Because she voted against the MPOA?
Because?
No mater- not logical but emotional, irrational
"I was going to say something, but left "
showed that he is in control enough to handle a stressful situation.
Or his meds are working
But why the stress level in the first place?
Repression is not a good idea either.
There is no catharsis, no closure
Stress tends to build up if there is no release
Hopefully his post provided some.

For the record- I'm not looking for your sympathy and I am not on meds, repressed, stressed, etc. I wanted to leave because I am so embarrased by her actions, how she acts at the council meetings and this last fiasco with her husband selling drugs in schools really upsets me. Seeing those scouts at the event and seeing really upsets me. She knew her husband was dealing, a family friend of hers heard her saying once she was worried he was dealing. She , you and the others can deny it. I don't care- she is no good for the city and will loose in 2015.

Sorry for the typos in my prior post- I wanted to say that seeing her there, upset me because I did not want her to speak to us veterans- she embarrased the city. I stayed because I was there with the boy scouts and was. It going to allow her to speak to them. How can she preach to these kids with her recent issues
