2 Killed In Possibly Related Shootings

Two people were killed in what may have been related shootings just blocks apart in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County between Monrovia, Arcadia and Duarte, authorities said Thursday.

these types of drive bys arent new in the city of monrovia.theyre just kept hushed because the citys image is at stake.a vast percentage of these shooting are racially motivated (hispanic vs.black) and most of these shootings are never solved.i am in no way gang affiliated,yet ive been shot at on two seperate occasions..which subsequently prompted me to move from this so called "apple pie and baseball "city.the public needs to be more informed about this problem in monrovia,and the officials in monrovia need to stop sweeping this issue under the rug.innocent people are dyeing simply because of the color of thier skin...isnt that considered a "hate crime"?

According to Mapquest this area is more like South, Southwest Duarte. This particularly bad neighborhood really has no relation to Monrovia, especially to the Monrovia North of the 210. BTW, can you cite examples of drivebye shootings in the actual city of Monrovia? I don't think they could be covered up that easily without raising a few eyebrows. Good luck in Long Beach.

The news forgot to mention other shooting that happen yesterday around 6:30 pm while washing his car outside his house someone shoot him in his face. It is hard to believe that nobody saw what happen if it was date light time. The city of Monrovia and Duarte need to do something about this before it gets worst. After what happen last night I do not think I feel save in this town 3 shooting in one day.

I personally knew the person that was shot. He was a middle aged fun loving guy that everyone in the area knew and loved. What happened to him has been happening to innocent victims throughout the Southland.This area used to be heavily patroled by the LACO Sherrif.Now it appears to be treated like New Orleans.These people are kinda left to fend for themselves. 3 shootings in 1 day in the same community,hours apart! Where were the cops? The town is not that damn big.

If the other shooting you allege happened in the same unincorporated area it would not be suprising. That small island of a neighborhood is like a little slice of Watts. It's full of dead ends so don't ever get lost or trapped there. Low-lifes will be low-lifes. Better they stay in their own isolated area. BTW, that tiny area is patroled by the sheriffs so there's nothing Duarte or Monrovia can do about it. And it's not their problem anyway as the area is unincorporated.

Low-lifes will be low life what are you talking about to be honest with you do not know what you are talking about and for your information the city of Monrovia and Duarte could do something about it. I know two of those people that got shoot one of them was a family man was not in gang related and the other one he was not in a gang. So please don not say these people were low lifes because you did not know them.

Looking at the article again I did not realize that the victims died. Condolences to the victims and their loved ones. It's frustrating to read about this stuff. I hope the perpetrators are caught and justice prevails.

Yes, the driveby which just occurred Wednesday night on Cherry Ave. in Monrovia. Now that's strange. This particular incident is not mentioned anywhere in the news. In fact, this particular incident occurred at 6:00pm the same evening as the two referenced in the article.

2 of the victims were Black. The third one was white but hung around Latinos. This is a situation that has been festering and pushed under the rug for quite some time. There have been times when it just isn't safe to stand outside in this area if you are a certain race. It is gang violence motivated by race that is affecting mainly innocent victims.

And to clarification, Monrovia and that area are very related. The kids either attend Duarte or Monrovia schools and it is a close knit community were everyone knows everyone. And there has been times when there have been daily shootings below the tracks and in Monrovia that I have never seen reported or even heard spoke upon.
