Consider that Viking Valhalla of peace, safety, health care from cradle to grave, Norway. In Norway:

1) There is NO RIGHT to own a firearm. You can be arbitrarily turned down.

2) You must SUBMIT to authorities a reason of WHY you want a firearm and they must consider it a valid reason and approve it.

3) You must be photographed and fingerprinted

4) You must undergo a COMPREHENSIVE criminal and medical/mental health records check prior to being licensed and buying a firearm

5) Gun owners MUST BE LICENSED.

6) Before a gun owner is licensed, he/she must take a comprehensive weapons training course and demonstrate competence with that weapon.

7) Any and ALL firearms you have must have been registered with authorities, and IN ADDITION TO ITS SERIAL NUMBER, a distinctive PERMANENT IDENTIFYING MARK must be engraved on each weapon.

And despite all this, boys and girls, on July 22, 2011, on Utoey Island, near Oslo, Norway, a 33 year old ethnic Norwegian man by the name of Anders Behring Breivik, MURDERED 77 TEENAGERS with a semi-automatic rifle and bombs. This next item was not widely disclosed by the press. Because Breivik knows that .223/5.56mm bullets (the kind allegedly used by the Aurora, CO, Movie Theater shooter and the Newtown, CT, Sandy Hook Elementary shooter) only make No.2 pencil entry wounds that do not always result in a fatality, Breivik used altered HOLLOW POINT BULLETS which he had drilled out, injected with 2 drops of LIQUID NICOTINE (a pesticide and powerful poison-2 drops will kill you) and sealed that with an unknown material-wax?) Using that combinaion, the psychotic bastard killed 77 teens and wounded or injured many others. Imagine that? In a country that HAS THE REQUIREMENTS THAT SENATOR DIANNE FEINSTEIN, CHARLES SCHUMER, President Obama and Vice President Biden, and many other gun control nuts want! Can you imagine that. What would be the next step if the Assault Weapons Ban Bill is passed in the USA and something like this happens? Would you believe en-masse gun confiscation because "The Assault Weapons Ban of 2013" did not work? What do you think these political hacks with simplistic solutions will do?

Five homicides committed with a gun were reported in Norway in 2005, the latest year for which the site has data confirming firearm-related murders in the country. In comparison, the U.S., which has a population more than 50 times greater, had 10,158 gun-related murders the same year, or 2,000 times that of Norway.

Total agreement.........despite the ignorant way some stupid jackass "judged" this comment above. Anyone who is for gun control should move to Germany, Russia, China, Japan, etc. They would be right at home there or...six feet under!

Please, please, please, The Rogue, do NOT send him to Germany! We have enough anal-retentive control freaks here as it is! You know the old saying: There's nothing worse than a reformed hooker. But in Germany's case: There's nothing worse than a reformed warrior. It's very difficult to own a weapon in Germany without sending us more people like the disarmament enthusiast you want to send our way, haha. Much success in the American People's struggle to keep their right to own arms! Wish we had such a guarantee in Germany!

to get good numbers we would also have to compare murders involving other weapons both places, I'm sure that balances it at least a touch, people always find a way(and I'm not bothering, don't touch the 2nd amendment, period), and also compare the largest population centers to comparable U.S. pop. centers. We all know rural areas have less murder, and norway is mostly rural, not to mention less "integrated", in more ways than one.

Norway was a "terrorist" in your terms. He planted bombs in the city and then went on the killing spree. That's like comparing Osama to a gangbanger. There's a difference you morons. It's not about stopping all gun crime, it will always exist, it's about reducing it.

Why not check your stats against anywhere in Europe, even places with relaxed gun laws have better stats than the USA. You know why, because owning a weapon is a priviledge you earn, not a right you are born with.

See how many kids under 16 have killed people with guns in the USA vs anywhere in Europe and you will see the difference. See how many innocents are killed in Europe and you will realize that automatic weapons are your problem.

I love guns don't get me wrong but this country has the wrong mindset when using them.

We must arm all children and seniors and borderline personality disorderlies. Only when they are all armed will we have a way to knowing which of them are really dangerous and need to be segregated form the rst in the dizney land parking lot. Observe all behaviors and hand out the stuff. Report all as those are the ones. Christ is my friend and I vote for anyone who hates social security and medicare and foodstamps or not.

Why do you people always leave Russia out of that comparison. Gun ownership there is much less than the US, but the murder rate is still much higher.

Why not address the violence issue? Guns are just a tool. PEOPLE with criminal intent murder others, and will do so even without a gun. The guns don't just float up off the ground and fire by themselves.

Only one percenters or their cronies will be allowed to own guns, like in NYC. Meanwhile the LAPD hunts minorities and only one man is trying to stop them.
