$80000 doesn't buy a whole lot! Sounds too good to be true.
Probably is. Cameras are not cheap and the man power to steam clean along with the equipment?
Maybe $80000 per month.
Watch your back.

How about clean up the city counsel and let's vote a new group the next election? At least Alasandro Birdine is thinking out of the box.

I presented a proposal to the association
about 4 years ago to have a sand blast recovery
system on the sidewalks to remove stains and even
some gum. The cost was about 45K I believe the
cameras will reduce grafitti a lot with added
lighting on the business storefronts. The side
walks need to be blasted and then sealed to look
new. This will help with future maintanece. this is really the best thing uptown can do now for little money.

As far as I know, Birdine does not really understand where the budget for cleaning the streets comes from. Where is the source of the money, who dictates how it is done and what are the State environmental laws that regulate the process? It's not the Uptown Association. Birdine does not address or even acknowledge what the Whittier Specific Plan (which is soon to come into effect) will do for Uptown Whittier. If he did acknowledge it, he would have to drop the plan for cleaning the streets, because it is already addressed.

The money that the Uptown Association works with comes from an assessment (essentially a tax) that businesses must pay to be located in the area, and it is a non-profit organization that must work within the laws of such status, AND the city reviews all expenditures. Why would the city let the Uptown Association spend money on something it already has budgeted for in the specific plan?

Lastly, Alasandro Birdine should be putting in bids to do these jobs, along with others who are experts in the same areas (and more qualified). We should always comparison shop and do research before buying *anything*- especially something that represents more than half the budget.

Birdine is basically door-to-door salesman who is selling snake oil to naive and inexperienced. Wake up, Uptown merchants, and wake up Uptown Association! Let's do things properly, and with professional sources!

Typo: This should have said "to the naive and to the inexperienced"

Well its been a long time since I've seen this article which, by the way, was never followed up on. What happen to Alasandro Birdine's plan? Did the city of Whittier and the Uptown Association simply ignore him? Noooooo.... Although the original 80k proposal was denied. However, a second plan was submitted for a project to clean the walkways along the storefronts in this beautiful shopping district. It was approved and for less than 7K a contract was created between the Uptown Association and the Street cleaner who was also someone very passionate about his beloved city.

This wasn't the only thing (I) Alasandro was able to accomplish. He was given the position of coordinator of the Grand Illumination Ceremony. This event is held every year when the Christmas Tree on top of City Hall is Illuminated. This event was not only successful, it was the most successful Grand Illumination Ceremony the city had ever seen. What do I mean by successful? Well, as a marketer, to me, if it doesn't make money, progress, or a big difference... it is a waste of time.

The Grand Illumination Ceremony Brought more than 1000 residents of the city of Whittier to the celebration. More than 3 thousand dollars was donated to the local PTAs, and shops in the area ALL reported an increase in sales and foot traffic.

It's funny how people are quick to judge someone who has nothing but good intentions. This is probably due to the fact that they just aren't use to being told the truth.

Today, my Marketing company is more successful than its ever been. How do I do it? I simply love people and I love what I do.

:)

Sincerely,

Alasandro Birdine - The dud from the article above.
