While I have nothing but sympathy for the victims how is one murder in six month suddenly "an outburst."

Daniel if you want to PR for the PD, you should just admit that that is what you are doing.

El Monte has become a gangsters haven. The police can't Controll the gangsters in this city anymore. Killings and robberies are at a all time high. This city is unsafe for traveling through and especially for living in. We are selling our home and moving out. Our two sons have also moved their families out of this terrible city. We don't shop in this city anymore. It is not safe at all.

Crack your front door open em resident. El Monte is out of control with gang activity. Sad to say...time to move...and don't think West Covina or Covina is far enough. They have taken over those city's as well.

Hard working folks come to this country to raise their kids were they can get an education/employment, and look how alot of the first generation kids pay their families back. Wake up people...make the change today before it is to late. Gracias

I have a White aunt and uncle that have lived in El Monte near Lambert and Peck ( near Jolly Jug) for over 40 years. They have successfully raised their children to adulthood. This aunt, uncle, and cousins of mine never had any problems with gangs, burglaries, robberies in all these years in El Monte. I think all the crime problems in El Monte are cholo on cholo crimes OR cholos victimizing Mexican Americans. I dont think El Monte is that bad compared to Watts or Pomona.

While most people think that cholo on cholo crime and let them kill each other mentality doesn't affect their city, should think twice. It affects businesses which pay taxes to the city because these businesses lose customers too scared too shop there and affects property values for homeowners.

The best thing the government should is treat these thugs as terrorist and strip them of their civil rights. Built another Guatanano bay and treat all cholos and thugs like Taliban terrorists. But the friggen ACLU and Liberals will never allow this.

Sadly we live in a society that allows gangs to exist. Frankly the only cure is to order the police to shoot on sight any gang member.

KILLINGS ARE NOT AT AN ALL TIME HIGH IN EL MONTE.

If you read last weeks paper, you'd know that up until last week there has only be 1 murder. That is the lowest for this time of year in several years.

CAN YOU HEAR THE POLICE UNION PARANOIA MACHINE WINDING UP TO SCARE EVERYONE INTO GIVING THEM MORE MONEY???

Can you idiots READ??? The story isn't about murders, it's about GANG VIOLENCE!!! What if no one dies it doesn't count in El Monte??? There were 3 shootings in one day which left 2 dead and 2 wounded... The whole SGV; yes including El Monte, is constantly reporting shooting, stabbings, robberies, and burglaries committed by gang members...

People look at what your all saying. The gangsters are coward people they only go out at night to shoot innocent people because they are afraid to come out and face the innocent people they victimize. They stay in thier cars when they drive by and they run like little cowards. They tag buildings to claim their territories like dogs. All their doing is killing thier own race and making " their" territories look like shit!!

Do your aunt and uncle the biggest favor and get them out of this trashy town of thugs. EM is not like the old days. Before you were born youngster, as a kid I remember walking to the EM Mall getting a double scoop and walking over to the EM Legion to watch midget wrestling for $2.00. Back then,, the cholos wouldn't bother you or have the guts to mess around like they do know. Do yourself a reality check, drive down Mountain View anytime of day, open your eyes to the criminals. Make sure not to stop or you may become a statistic. Move them to a quiet town like La verne or Montclair. Go East

Yes,you are so right. In my line of work I travel all over SoCal to some unsafe neighborhoods like Watts, Pomona, ELA. I sometimes have to make water or want to get a coffee or soda. These neighborhoods always have thugs, gansters, street people loitering in front of their businesses. The store owners cant shoosh them away because these vermin have rights. These businesses are missing out on so many customers and the city`s tax base suffers.

I think an aggressive court action such as allowing the police to round up these gang members from the top to the bottom and charging them with multiple offences. Also, the police pestering them night and day will drive them away. However, Hispanic rights groups will complain and parents of true cholos will complain and say, "my child is not a gang member, he just kicks it with gang members, nevermind that he has a 3 page rap sheet, he is not a gang member."
