The fate of a former Tamalpais High School coach went to a jury Friday after lawyers took turns portraying him as either a scheming sexual predator or the victim of teenage homophobia. Full Story

One hopes the jury doesn't go "PC" on us. Fat tests and massages? For tennis? Spare me. Wrestling, sure. Boxing, sure. Any sport with weight limitations. But tennis? I recall he was told to stop this and continued. If that is true, who would think the necessity of fat tests or massages should continue? Look up fat tests on Google. The sites show measurement at MID thigh.
I'm sorry, but this pattern of action is highly questionable. He was also warned twice. Once is enough! Who in their right mind would continue doing this if warned? Here's the IJ story:
"
A Tamalpais High School physical education teacher and tennis coach facing sexual battery charges based on complaints by one of his former players was issued warnings twice by administrators after students reported he had touched them inappropriately.
Norm Burgos, 43, was reprimanded by the high school principal after one of the incidents five years ago, according to court records. In April 2005, Burgos was presented with a "notice of unprofessional conduct and improvement plan."
Burgos, of El Cerrito, is in the middle of a preliminary hearing in Marin Superior Court to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence for a judge to order him to stand trial on the charges.
Burgos was arrested in August 2006 after a former student, identified as John Doe in court records, told his therapist that he was molested by a teacher in 2002 or 2003, when he was 16.
The doctor notified Marin's child protective services department as required by state law for medical professionals, therapists, teachers and others who work with juveniles.
Burgos was first reprimanded in December 2002 after a 15-year-old student told his psychologist he had been molested by his physical education teacher.
Charges were not filed in that case but the alleged victim, who was not identified in court records, told Mill Valley police that Burgos had offered to test his body fat in his office. The boy said Burgos first used a device to test his arm and stomach and then said he needed to measure
his thighs.
The boy said Burgos asked him to unbutton his jeans and then the teacher placed the body fat tester inside his underwear. The boy told police he could feel the back of Burgos' hand slightly touching his genitals, according to court records."
So the jury's job is to determine who they believe and nothing else. Certainly not a "statement" on homophobia, which is an effort to create a "protected class".
Wow, good things these kids have someone to confide in. I would hope my kid would tell me. Amazing that such the kids are already in therapy. Good to know they have someone to help them sort out complex issues and someone who will contact the proper authorities. In today's world plenty of teacher misconduct, even from the "fairer" sex.

Homophobia? What does that mean?

Fear of hominids? That's a weird invented word. Invented by the way by homosexuals desperately trying to normalize their chosen behavior.

You're "supposed" to call them "gays", so why not "Gayophobia", or "Degeneraphobia"?

Such a sad bunch-constantly striving to join mainstream society, while at the same time rejecting all norms of decency and the values of normal people.

How many of you heard any of the evidence? One minute of it? What gives you the right to spout off as to what the verdict should be? What if you or one of your loved ones would be charged with a crime? You indignant self-righteous blowhards would be singing a different tune.....

This is why the Boy Scouts have a policy banning homosexuals from being scout leaders.

And we know how well that ban is working against so-called 'straight' pedophiles.

What is it with teachers nowadays! They do not seem to respect the boundary between them and the students. I keep hearing about a teacher having sex with a student or some sort of misconduct. Maybe all teachers need to go through some sort of training like the sexual harrassment training we get in the office.
Maybe you should listen to the real evidence first.

When his attorney makes his case to the public, he should expect them to reach judgment as well.

A lot of conjecture from people who know nothing.

Burgos gave the OPTION to have bioelectrical impedence body fat testing to all of his students (male and female) at least once a month.

To get an accurate analysis, three sites have to be tested include the bicep, the abdomen, and the thigh.

Students could choose to just be tested on their bicep, or not be tested at all. All the testing I ever witnessed took place in the middle of a crowded gym with a line of students observing as they waited their turn.

Just so theres some actual facts in this discussion...

MID THIGH. Testimony was he stuck his hand in the kid's underpants. Now, please explain the mask and the massages. was that also part of the curriculum? NO MASSAGE IS EVER NEEDED BY A COACH, PERIOD. ESPECIALLY A GAY COACH ON A MALE KID. Please explain.

Teachers know what is ok and whats not they go through all kinds of training about sexual harassment.
The ones that do things like this know good and well what they're doing they just don't care.
