They're right. Building additional freeway(s) never "reduces" congestion, it only creates more arteries for commuters as well as degrading neighborhoods and affecting property values. What WILL reduce traffic is to stop building more and more condos, apartments thereby increasing the population in SoCal. I see many of those same apartments that sprang up within the past decade with "For Rent" or "Vacancy" signs all over the place.

Face it, Los Angelenos are a lazy lot. They'd rather drive 2 miles to go to the market or go driving unnecessarily sometimes out of sheer boredom. The next time you're out driving and stuck in traffic, look into the car next to you. Is that person overweight?

"stop building more and more condos, apartments thereby increasing the population..."

Of course I meant to write, decreasing.

A few more words in the resolution and it is wonderful for LA...we get our houses back and NO Portal and NO Pseudo-Connector Road...

For Alhambra Readers...
Go to google earth and go to Valley Blvd...Fremont..Alhambra

then zoom out some and use the line or path function and get a straight line FROM the Hellman Bridge over I-710 TO Claifornia and Pasadena intersection on the east side of the north I710 stub in Pasadena... that would be the most practical route for a tunnel...
then check it against the boundary for El Sereno adn ALhambra = the portal between I-10 and ValleyBlvd and the tunnel up to Huntington will be in ALHAMBRA City, here we go again Emery Tract...it will be under you...LA will have a little piece of it next to Charlies Trio, but I think we can risk that, although we could allow a Intake Vent Shaft at the Gabandoned gasoline station at Kendall/Hunt.Dr./Alhambra Road.

OH BTW - remember that the original surface route had 4lanes+HOVlane each way (about enough for 50,000+ cars/day each way) and so far the tunnels would only have 3 lanes each way (=3500 car/hr or 35,000 car/day)...where did the cars all go???

Oh they are all still on Fremont-FairOaks because there are no interchanges between Valley and Colorado...Whoops we forgot about all of the commuters who are trying to get to Valley, Mission, Main, Alhambra Road, Huntington, Green????

Consider poor Pasadena with the 4-8pm traffic jam on I210 East with an additional 1000 car/hour to add to the mess....

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Libra

You're full of empathy and affection today, so it would be a shame not to spread it around. It's a marvellous day for a low-key get-together with some of the people you haven't seen during the past few days, because you'll enjoy having a good chat about what's been happening. Once your social duties are out of the way you'll love curling up on the sofa with a good book or a favourite film.
