If anyone thinks this is an isolated incident they are crazy. These cops have been doing this for decades, since I was a teen. In the 60's and 70's they would handcuff you and take you behind the flood wall and beat the hell out of you. These jerks think they are bad, but they are cowards who have to use handcuffs and a gun to feel brave enough to beat someone up. I work one of the ED's in Parkersburg and have seen the Parkersburg police and the Wood County Sheriff's department beat people till they could not stand. Many of us wanted to say something but we knew if we did, every time we left work we would get pulled over. Or worse yet, these "law enforcement" officers who have access to every piece of information they need to track someone down would find out who are children are and target them. Two of the worst that I have ever seen were Rick Woodyard and Charlie Johnson who I think are both still deputies. It seems to me that the young Parkersburg cops are the worst, the ones that love to work nights so they can be involved in this type of thing. The older police that I see in the days don't seem to be as bad. And to be honest one thing I have never seen is a State Trooper do this, the ones I have seen from the WVSP have always seemed to be professional, even when they are in a wrestling match with some POS.
I realize more than anyone how bad it can be for the police. I have seen them spit on, cussed, kicked, everything, but that does not justify beating someone who is unable to protect themselves. I am sure this guy that was assaulted was an 'a'hole. But come on, but a man and take the cuffs off then try this crap.
You would think after the city was sued and lost, and the feds were called in to look into police abuse in Parkersburg and Wood County, these idiots would stop assaulting people who could not fight back, especially when they know that the area is covered with camera's at all times.
If these are the best that the city and County can hire, God help us all.
