I used to live in Bayside and currently Still work in Bayside and the neighborhood is holding up just fine. You mention the "Asian Invasion" That's not at all what's happening. The Asian peoples for the overwhelming majority are clean, decent, hard working members of American Society. They take exceptional care of their children and live normal orderly lives. They do not look for a handout and they make sure that their children are well fed and that they attend school and strive to excel. I for one greet the Asian community with open arms, they bring with them the hope and ambition of a new and successful tomorrow. I'll bet there are communities out there that only wish they could make such a statement as the "Asian Invasion" Just look around, don't you think there are folks in Elmont, Richmond Hill, Uniondale and Hempstead who WISH they could make such a statement ? Let's all be thankful for the Asian Invasion.
BTW, in case you were wondering ---NO--I am not Asian, I'm 2nd generation Italian/American.

So it is going all Asian. Are you married to an Asian? lol, the answer will be known with the silence....

So do you agree they should NOT be teaching Italian or Spanish or French as a second language option anymore? It really should be Korean or Mandarin? BTW, you can read all the signs huh? Or you fast enough to look for the small English lettering? Good for you!

Wow, You're obviously racist--Who'da thunk ? No matter--for the most part Asians really don't care if you can converse with them in their native tongue. Actually, they are more than happy to converse in the language of their new home. BTW, the answer is NO, I am not married to an Asian woman, but I would not have any problem if one of my children decided to do so. As far as the little lettering in English--well I do suppose they are offering their whares to their own first, and really--who can blame a person for that--it's a natural part of human behavior to seek out ones own--is it not ? On the flip side though --for the most part you will find the vast majority of Asians have no outwardly obvious signs of contempt or hatred of americans as a people, but like any other ethnic community--there are the few who for the most part are ignorant and cannot assimilate, much like the folks of the mountains in Korea, Italy or Russia. All new immigrants of all cultures have had and still do have those who are destined to remain on the outer fringes of our society. Just look at the Jewish communities of our 5 boro's ! Look, the point I'm making is we are all humans and we are looking to do the same thing in our family's, homes and jobs--To live our lives and be Happy and feel like we belong. And if in that endeavor we have the fortitude to pull our own weight --Then good for us and we should welcome all those who share the same goals

BTW --Just wanted to clear up one point which I feel may have been misleading--When I mentioned the Jewish Communities of our 5 boro's--I was speaking specifically of the sect's such as the Lubavichas and or the Hassidic etc. I was simply attempting to point out that there are many different ways of living ones life alongside all others and that the Asian Community is NO MORE different than some others who are already part of what makes us--US ! I'm sure I'm going to take some heat on this one, but if someone's got a brain in their head they see where I'm going with this. I believe that race, color or creed plays no role in the right to be accepted if you are a productive member of society and the racist term of Asian Invasion --is just that--a racist term.

I agree with everything you said. It's perfect and no one could disagree with your logic.
However, every immigrant that has ever entered this country has had to go through the gauntlet, it's tradition. Not a nice one, but it is the way of it. What you call racist, Asian Invasion, I call rhythm. I think that, from personal experince, Asians tend to cling more to themselves than most groups and I don't mean just the first gen., because they have a strong grip on their offspring, that slacks off by the third sometimes fourth gen. here. However, their culture is more tightly knit then previous immigrants that have come to our shores. They assilimate and eventually dwindle into American society. I've known plenty PLENTY of Asians and from experince they will generally stick to their ways. That's ok. But it does look like they are taking over and NOT becoming American.
Do you not think it a problem to have a nation living within a nation that owns land here?

Funny how you implied that you preferred Asian, as opposed to what? Hispanic? Black?

You people must be kidding me? Do you see what I see in bayside? The reason why the property taxes are going up is because they don't pay any property taxes on those houses because their "churches" bought those houses!! Then they put 4 families in 2 family houses! The Asian up the block from me doesn't even work ...he collects bottles and cans all day and all night! The Asian around the corner from me bought a 350000 house and he works for the post office that only starts people out with 18/hour! They buy them through their churches! The church on northern blvd, bought up 4 houses!! How is that fair to anyone who is in the market to buy a house? I make 30/hour and I still can't afford a 350000-400000 house!! I would like to stay in the neighborhood I grew up in, but because of their "churches" buying every single damn property, its impossible for me to live here!!! They need to tax them for all the extra property that they buy!! And I just don't mean the Korean or Chinese churches, I mean every church!!!

They don't pay taxes on these houses....they get these houses through their "churches"!! You know who's paying for it? The other property owners!! This one Korean church on northern blvd owns 4 houses! That's 4 houses that could have gone to people who really want to live here! No one else find that greedy? No one finds the fact that they put 4 families in a two family house greedy?

For the person who "thinks" that Asians aren't living in poverty obviously have not read the statistics lately!! Asians are number two race in poverty after the Hispanics!!

You obviously have me confused with someone else. Actually the "N" word has never been a part of my vocabulary and in raising my children I always forbid such words in their conversations. So you apparently are confusing me with someone else. Then again, it's it would appear by your writing that you have some psychological issues which should be addressed --why not seek out a mental health professional Or a Life Coach. I suppose you might want to consider investing in a water craft about now ! LOL
