sympathy to his family on his death.
he sounded like a really caring man.

OT:
quote: "Garcia was working at Engine 24, Ladder 5 on Aug. 18, 2007, when a call came in for a fire at the Deutsche Bank building at the edge of Ground Zero.
Two of Garcia's firefighters, Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino, perished in what veterans described as the worst fire of their experience. Garcia was deeply affected, friends said."

the FDNY is responsible for inspecting buildings in NY. once these two firemen died, the city tried to blame the buildings owners. that's BS.
the city is liable and trying to pass the blame on someone else. checking to see if stand-pipes are working properly is the city's and FDNY job. they do the inspections and notify the building owners if something needs to be corrected. that was never done, since the building was abandoned on 9/11.
god forbid the city would take responsibility for killing two of their own.

That standpipe had been illegally removed only days before the fire broke out in that building. Instead of doing half-ass research and blaming the FDNY, maybe you should do some reading before you pass blame around for deaths. Maybe you should wonder why the wealthy insurance companies who were locked into a battle over which one was going to pay to take it down WHILE IT STOOD THERE FOR SIX YEARS.

The city of New York is certainly responsible for those deaths, but wake up and acknowledge the full history of what happened and how. The FDNY cannot inspect every standpipe in every building in NY every week or you wouldn't have anyone to fight the actual fires.
