I remember back in the late 70,s early 80,s we had $.50 12oz beers but in plastic cups the tavern in south milwaukee had a rough crowd (bikerstyle) and only fights that happen were fist fights no cops hardly ever and after you got hit and you were down you clean up and the guy that won would buy you a beer and it was all over could drink outside (bar was fenced off)everyone could go there nobody
had to fear the crowd they all got along the new kids on the scene got beer poured over there head as a hello welcome that was a nice bar but now is a empty lot with memorys

That was the Branding Iron when it burned down, The Outlaws started hanging out there just before it burned, 1st bar I regularly hung out at, Nearly Normal was the other one, It's gone too, They tore it down and Frenchy's (1st bar our band plated at)next door 10th and Madison. That's where the Farmers Market is now.
I have a piece of wood form Branding Iron and Nearly Normal after they where torn down.

I played at Frenchys in the late 80's early 90's when they had a open mic nite.
Fred&Betty's, Wow, My parents used to take me there when I was a little kid (53 years old now) This guy would ask if I wanted to play pool for a candy bar and he used to let me win most the time.
My parents friends Willy & Ileane M. hung out there for years.
Man does that bring back some memories, Thanks Brad!!

Do you mean the one at 12th and Marquette? Nicky's gas station used to be on the other corner. I'll bet that is all changed now. I used to live in South Milwaukee many years ago.

That was the Body Shop all right! Notorious! My dad went to the Legion a few blocks south on Monroe and one of the favorite conversation topics was how rowdy The Body Shop was. If my memory serves correctly, somebody god stabbed at the bar and then it burnt down. And last I remember, it's still a vacant lot.
