Do not believe any negative postings by anyone in this SM blog! This is nothing but proof to all of us that you can not ever believe everything you read... Do no believe a word of it... This is a fair and honest city, and Topix does not ever remove postings.

This is a community apology from a friend of a SM War Veteran, who may have posted some unhealthy comments to the city, and officials. We both grew up in SM, and they are really not a bad person. They are very remorseful, sad, did not mean any harm to anyone in any way, nor meant to hurt the city, anyone in the city, or give anyone a wrong impressions about the city and its officials, and elected officials. I just want to share a little background about this person, so people understand alittle bit about them and their past.

This person was active duty military over 12 years, who was responsible for 40 individuals during the Iraq War, and a decorated war veteran. With this comes a mental and emotional price, which hopefully people reading this will understand a back story and they meant no harm, nor hurt anyone, in any way. Soldiers are trained to focus to save and protect people, just like the Police and city officials, but their environment and mindset are slightly more intense.(If you know or hear other war vets, you know what I mean). Freedom means everything to their lives because they did infact place their lives on the line for each American, and if you never experienced that, freedom is something most people take for granted; so the meaning of freedom has a more deep hearted meaning to Veteran war soldiers then most Americans.

Here's a perfect example of a different mindset of a soldier then normal Americans. 4 July to most Americans is a day to celebrate our Independence. Well, to a soldier who physically defended our independence with their life, its one of the worst days of the year. Why? People who want to take our freedoms away, try to do more harm against us and our soldiers that day, versus any other day of the year. War Veterans know this date is where you have to be more alert, and more soliders co-soldiers and friends get hurt or killed. Reading a blog, some unhealthy comments were from 4 July.

This person does have a strong opinion at times, but is hardworking, honest and reasonable. They agreed to seek professional counselling thru the VA for the first time ever this week, so they can mentally and emotionally get better, with other vet's. Although this does not physically erase what they wrote, they did not mean any harm to anyone in the city (police, mayor, attorney, judge, etc.), but was stuck in their own unhealthy mindset. They also agreed to personally apologize to everyone, and promised to never voice there opinion ever again, here, on any other blog or posting anywhere in the world. He realizes now it serves no helathy purpose.

This Vet is drug free, laid off and unemployeed for several years now, struggling doing side jobs to survive for their family, sick children, and had several very close family members and friends pass away this past year. Although it does not erase his unhealthy opinions, but this was a very trying time period for their life. They now know it was unhealthy for everyone involved, but now, this will be the very first time they ever will depend on anyone (VA) to help them. Hopefully, they can also find them a fulltime stable job in this rough economic times, while they get the professional counselling they need during this trying times.

Well, I just thought I would share with you and the entire community that Veterans do and are living in SM, and we never know who they are, or where they live. Not all return the same, but their sacrafice and what they all did for us, does have a price for the entire community, that we need to understand and support. I hope each of you can say a prayer and support them to become well again, and a better productive citizen.

Normally we hear of Vet's in other cities dealing with issues, but you do have hometown boys in SM that needs our support and understanding, and hope you do not take offense and hurt them back for something they may have stated because of their unhealthy mindset. Two wrongs rarely make a right, but repeats the unending cycle.

Hopefully, the SM community can show concern for their health, and not gang up against them for their unprofessionalism. At times, some community members need that little extra understanding from the community because of their voluntary sacrafice they did to protect our way of life and our freedom. Freedom does have a cost, and soldiers like my friend in this case here paid their dues; far above the rest of the community who never served or placed their life on the line to defend our freedom and rights.

What does the community want to do? Crush this unhealthy mindset war Veteran and bring them down even lower then they are now, or does the community want to try and support this unhealthy war veteran with compassion and understanding, on their unprofessional comments and give them a second chance to redeem themselves? Like me, I hope the community gives them an opportunity to get healthy again, as does their hometown family and friends, who now needs the help of the community to make a local war veteran healthy again.
