We desparately need fire and rescue "on duty" personel here in South Mills. It is horrifing to have to wait for an ambulance to arrive all the way from Albemarle Hospital, while someone you love is gasping for breath due to heart failure.
I pray that those in authority are able to receive the funds necessary to hire these persons to maintain the station that is already located in South Mills. I don't mind paying higher taxes to help save someone's life.

Obama:No Such Thing as Shovel-Ready Projects
Posted by Stephanie Condon
With unemployment hovering near 10 percent nearly two years after President Obama signed his economic stimulus package, Mr. Obama is acknowledging that, despite his campaign promises, theres no such thing as shovel-ready projects.
The president gave that remark in an hour-long interview with the New York Times.
Mr. Obama also told the Times that he should have let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts in the stimulus, rather than including them himself, so the package would have seemed more like a compromise. The stimulus package, which the Congressional Budget Office said this year will cost $862 billion, included $236 billion in tax cuts. Nevertheless, the president said in the interview that he comes across as the same old tax-and-spend Democrat.
When the president campaigned for the stimulus package at the start of his presidency, he and others in his administration repeatedly insisted the investments would go to shovel-ready projects projects that would put people to work right away. As recently as August, however, local governments were still facing delays spending the money they were allocated from the stimulus, CBS News Correspondent Nancy Cordes reported.
Couldnt help but laugh at the way Obama phrased a couple of things. He says he should have let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts in the stimulus, rather than including them himself, so the package would have seemed more like a compromise. Because appearances are everything, arent they??? And if wed just pitched it this way, and given Republicans just a tiny little bit of input, then maybe we could have blamed yet ANOTHER liberal-created mess on Republicans

First of all, I live in South Mills, not Fayetteville. When I made the post you quoted, the stimulus was not the issue. I was talking about a few cents more to our local taxes. Not Woodbridge taxes, and , yes, I would gladly pay a few cents more to have been able to save the life of the person I cared about who died because help was so far away. I, also, agree that we should not be using Obama's stimulus money for this issue. In fact, I have already voted and am praying as hard as I can pray that Nov. 2nd. will help change things in the House and Senate. We must vote the Democrats out of there and help snatch this great Nation of ours from the jaws of those who would steadily dystroy her.
