I purchased a set of glasses from this company over a month ago. They initially told me that it would take 5-7 business days to arrive. It has been over a month and still no glasses. I have not received any follow up. No explanation as to why it is taking so long. I SUGGEST THAT YOU GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR VISION NEEDS. This is the most un-professional company I have ever had the displeasure of working with.

I needed an eye exam for myself and my son. I had VSP and they said they take it. I'm then told that for my son I would need to use my health insurance b/c it was for an infection... what ever, the co-pays are basically the same. I give the guy my cards before the exams. After everything is all said and done I'm informed that they are not one of the preferred providers for my insurance and the copay is now $50 instead of $15!!! Should I have double checked myself, sure. But I should be able to trust that a doctors office is going to steer me straight. The only reason I went there is that they were on my VSP list... DO NOT GO THERE!! The billing lady defended them by saying they are correct because they do take my insurance just like I asked, they just aren't a preferred provider. That is important information that should be given to me before hand.

On top of that I was going to get a pair of glasses for night time driving. They wanted over $90 to add the anti-reflective coating alone (unless this was an inflated scam price to be able to charge my insurance more). This is double what it should cost. I ended up getting the glasses at Costco and $72 gave me the upgraded poly lenses with the Anti Reflective coating. RIP OFFS

One last thing. The person there did not offer to help me pick out any glasses, didn't try to tell me what I needed (I knew of the Anti Glare coating on my own)... NO SERVICE.

$35 has never made me so upset in my life.

I went there in April of 2009. I need to get my son a pair of glasses and a precription for his contacts. All I needed was a exam and a precrition for my contacts. They charged my for the exam along with 75.00 each contact fitting. What a rip off I will never ever go to this place again.

I have been using the services of this group for over 10 years. Always amazing services, fast, informative, and honest.
I've read the other comments, but I have to say, these are user issues. Being an informed consumer would save you a lot of headache.
There is a big difference between being a discount provider and a preferred provider.
Ask questions about the services they offer and how much they charge vs. what your insurance will cover. This will help avoid being blind sided.

Having worked in the eye care industry as well as being a patient and insurance policy holder I can understand both sides to all the comments above...

@john not happy in SJ - Vision isurance does not cover 'office visits' for infections, problems... anything other than a routine yearly eye check - VSP will not cover. As a policy holder of a medical insurance - it is your responsibility to check with your insurance before hand to make sure your services will be covered. BILLING AN INSURANCE PROVIDER IS A COURTESY OF THE DR OFFICE.
And costco lenses are crap. thats why they are so cheap. You pay cheeap... you get cheap.

@unhappy in sandy - the contact fitting is so expensive the first time because extra test are done for the first time fit... training... the first pair of contacts... as well as any necessary follow up visits...

This was the worst most inconsiderate Doctor of any kind I have ever been to. He triple booked the time for my first appointment and only seen me for one minute, then scheduled a follow up. On the follow up, he was in the office when I arrived, but again bouncing from patient to patient. His Med. Techs. ran me through some tests, and he never even had the consideration to meet with me or go over the results. Upon finishing my test, I learned he had left the office to go to another branch he works at. Very inconsiderate, and never would I go to him again! I felt like I was just another insurance claim walking through the door among others.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE VISIT THEM!

I initially went to Dr. Ryan Mortensen for my daughters check up and an eye glass prescription for myself.

First of all, they took my daughter back for her exam while I was filling out paperwork. When I finished and went back in the room with her, Dr. Moretensen did not even say as much as "hello" to me. I had to inquire as to whether or not her vision was good or if she needed a prescription.

I then received my exam and it was average. The doctor had nothing to say to me, just walked me out the counter where his wife was apparently waiting for him, and they proceeded to charge me for a contact lense fitting and exam. Again, I only wanted an eyeglass prescription.

He then told the staff that because I wasn't ordering contacts, I did not need a trial pair of lenses. I informed them, that yes, I am paying for the lenses I would like to get them. I informed the doctor that I currently wear daily lenses and would like to remain that way. They informed me they would get them from their other office and call me. After about a month of waiting and not hearing from them, I called to ask where they were. I had my husband pick them up the next day; however, they were the wrong lenses and I was headed out of town. I tried the lenses since it was my only option.

My eyes were extremely irritated so I called to schedule an exam for a check up on the contacts. I told the doctor that these were not daily lenses as I asked and he asked me 10 different questions as to how I acquired the wrong lenses. He did not want to believe that his office gave me the wrong lenses.

He gave me another set of trial lenses that also did not work for me. I decided I would just order my old lenses from Sears Optical since their prices were $10 cheaper per box and the staff there is friendly.

I only ran into ONE friendly staff member in my entire experience.

I WILL NOT BE BACK as the staff, especially Dr. Mortensen, are not personable in any way. Their prices are high, and I do not appreciate their lack of communication/organization!
Another bad visit

I too had a similar experience with Dr Mortenson
After giving me a conatct lens to try out I placed it in my eye and had allot of pain. I asked if he would take a look at the eye and was told he was with a patient and I should make an appointment.
I walked out unhappy, just in time to see him getting into his car to leave right after I paid him.

Dr Fellows also seems to be a bit less concerned about the patients these days. He once gave me a hard time about paying by check and who it must be payable to.

I filed fraud charges against Dr. Fellows with VSP and told them to take him off their list. An office tech that was on the first day of her job did all my tests. The doctor never looked at me or tried the lenses prescribed on me to see if they worked before I left the office. They just handed me some lenses and said to let them know if they didn't work out. The office billed my insurance for a full exam. I have had many full exams in my life time and neither Dr. Fellows nor his first day office tech did a full exam. I had to follow up with him at different offices around the valley when my contacts didn't work out. He saw me for 1 minute each time and made a new recommendation which is why I had to keep trying to see him over and over. He is the most unprofessional and inconciderate eye doctor and I doubt he even has a license. He is a scam artist is what he is. I would never go to him again nor recommend him to anyone.

He's actually on the state board of optometry. And his current business license is always posted for patients to see, but thanks for the opinion.
