Each of the seven charter members of the water agency will pay a certain percentage toward the costs.

Harvey’s share is 38 percent, followed by Alsip (30 percent), Blue Island (11 percent), Robbins (7 percent), Midlothian (6 percent), Markham (5 percent) and Calumet Park (4 percent).

The bonds for the study will be paid off in 2024, that thus far has provided little or NO information.
It is a pitiful day that elected officials are saying they know absolutely nothing.
The current elected officials can not answer SIMPLE QUESTIONS, and they are signing off on STUFF and spending MONEY these municipalities, DO NOT HAVE TO WASTE!

Alternate Director Mark Patoska, led and pushed the costly JAWA project. He had difficulty listening to FACTS from Alderman Frausto regarding exploring alternate sites when, informed there were problems with the Whiting, IN. Site that was selected. Mark is a Follower who obviously has difficulty listening, thinking, and understanding.

Thank You Alderman Potaska for this lack of transparency. We can expect the same if you become City Clerk. You say one thing and your actions same the exact opposite.

In 100 years our descendants "may" see some savings on our water bill. We have more immediate issues in our community than some hair brained Ponzi scheme called JAWA.

"We, the residents of the municipalities (including Blue Island) involved in the  in the JAWA object to the participation of (Blue Island) the municipalities in the South Suburban Joint Water Action Agency (SSJAWA). We object to the legislation, legal agreements, taxation, and financial support that will facilitate the construction of the (SSJAWA) facility. We petition the state of Illinois to help keep OUR communities safe by any and all means necessary, including but not limited to opposing legislation to create the water facility that has wasted 5.7 million taxpayer dollars, failed to follow transparency laws, allowed project appointments, failed to respond to FOIAS as required by law, and distributed taxpayer funds without providing information to the communities, and elected officials."

Thank the current city council members who supported and voted for the 5.7 MILLION DOLLAR SSJAWA feasibility study (and waste of taxpayer dollars).
(Only Alderwoman - Mrs. Nancy Thompson opposed the fatally flawed SSJAWA project from inception!)

Indeed the WHOLE project SMELLS Bad!

No information for a 5.7 million dollar STUDY.

Ron Young completed a study at no cost to any of the municipalities, out of his personal funds and HAS concluded the project is NOT PRACTICAL or Feasible as have other community members who researched the issues thoroughly.

Once again, the mayor and council members have become overly enthusiastic without investigating a project. Yes, it is time for new level headed leadership.
