Went past the park tonight to see what the article was really about. Wow, did i get a shock. Everything as folks knew it is gone. Those fields have many memories for many. Cutting all those treed down were terrible. They never got in the way before so why now?
Is there a drawing of what the fields will look like when done?

They were cut down to make room for the new design (I think four or five baseball fields), but the park district stated that more than a few were rotting and/or damaged from storms. I have not seen a drawing, but if I hear about one I'll post back for you. I'd be curious too. Sounds like it will be very nice, and since it was dilapidated I don't see missing the old stuff much. Course you were raised here it sounds like so I get the sentimental part. I'm quite sentimental myself.

From what I understand there will be new restrooms and a new snack shop too and better setup for the overall park. This is all grant funded too I read.

And another thing to note, Evelyn Gleason said in the article too that allowing people to rent the fields out will generate much needed revenue for the park district. She said residents can use the park anytime unless a particular field is privately rented so keep that in mind.

Oh duh. I forgot to mention they are planting maple trees and other native trees to replace the ones they cut down. I think they will just be in a few different areas.

Thanks, I read some of that today. Sure they will plant trees but they will take forever to grow and give much neded shade to baseball player.
Guess it is alot of sentimental memories I guess.

There are drawings at the park Dist just ask to see them. There are are 5 fields all lighted and fenced in.
I wonder how much it is going to cost out kids to play there now?

I also went by the park. Looks like a big project. Always sad to see some nice old trees come down. But seems like there will be a lot of major improvements. Progress is never without some victims this time trees and a sledding hill. Should be nice when done. And the grant is big.

I also went by to see what was going on. Quite a lot or a real lot. Always sad to see large trees come down. But seems it will be some big improvements. Nice to get a grant for something that big a good score.
Still losing the trees and the sledding hill take some getting used to. But improvements always have victims. But will be a better park when done.

I went by the other day and all I can say is,'it's about time". It didn't look as bad as I thought it would and am so glad to see that improvements are happening. I'm sure it will look nice when it's done. We have to remember that a lot of trees in Town are over 100 yrs old and are starting to die. Better to get them down than to have them fall down. I just hope that when finished, they don't put in that ugly "wild flowers" they call drainage. To me that's a Mosquito catcher. They need to get those out of Bremen Heights Park. I like the improvements there but the Weeds make it look bad.

That is where I raise my six baby skunks and nobody from the park cares.

Sad to be white........ why?
Why don't you take a drive through a predominantly white town and then drive through a beaner infested gang riddled town...Or just look at Mexico.
Sip your jaritos and shut your mouth.
