<quoted text>It is very obvious you are an Oak Forest paramedic/firefighter. I have done a lot of research today. The paramedics for Trace assigned to the Tinley contract run 8,000 ambulance calls for Tinley Park compared to 3,400 total runs for Oak Forest. Do the math. Further more you completely ignored the option of hiring paramedics through a service like Frankfort and North Palso do along with several dozen town out west and up north. Also, i just called Midlothian and Crestwood. Midtlothian has a contract with Buds that gurantees and ambulance on the scene with in 4 minutes and second ambulance with in 7 minutes all for 12,000 per year and Buds bills the patients. Oak Forest bills the patient now and we are paying a lot more than 12,000 per year for paramedics.
Crestwood has a contract with Elite ambulance and gues what. They have 2 staffed ambulances in town (remember your location, location location) so tell me how hiring people who have the exact same training pass the exact same tests at a fraction of the cost is bad. Remember Trace paramedics assigned to the Tinley contract run approximately 4 times the amount of runs in TINLEY PARK ( stop with your bull crap of nursing home runs) so by shear volume they will gain a lot more experience then an Oak Forest Firefighter/paramedic.
Lets not make up things now... Crestwood has its two of its own ambulances for RESIDENTS... The private ambulance is just for out of towners

1) have you ever seen the people from Kurtz?? i rest my case there.
2) PSI doesnt service a community NEAR the size of Oak Forest.
Yes I have Frankfort took care of my child when he was hurt at a soccer and I found out they are from Kurtz. Very professional and presented themselves very well. Frankfort is way bigger than Oak Forest and much busier than Oak Forest .
North Palos is bigger than Oak Forest and busier.

PSI services the following communities and several are much larger than oak Forest. Where do you get your misinformation from?

Below is a list of all the towns PSI serves and the year they started. It is looking better and better going with private paramedics. If it was bad and did not work do you really believe all of these towns would go this route for so long?

Once again misinformation. Crestwood uses Elite as it ambulance. I just called them again. They explained it their ambulances are basic life and Elite is paramedic. They only transport if the have multiple calls or multiple patients.Call them for your self if you do not believe me. They only transport a couple dozen times a year. Once again where do you obtain your information from? I get my information from the source.

You can do all the blustering you want, OF is not going to change. Oak Forest residents are very pleased with the ambulance & fire protection provided by the city and the politicians would get strung up if they change. The recent survey filled out by 15% of the residents confirmed the overall popularity of our paramedic services. These other towns also have to have a compliment of firefighters to fight fires and respond to other ememgencys which they will still have to maintain.

I live in Oak Forest and pay over $10,000 per year in property taxes. My brother is a Lieutenant on Frankfort fire. The Kurtz medics are not "part time". He told me the medics they have working for them are very good guys. If they have any problems which is very few (he said they have more problems with the full time union guys who fight every thing and cost the fire district a lot of money legally)Kurtz gets rid of them and brings in a new person something a union fire department can not do. Frankfort had an employee get drunk twice cause an accident and leave the scene. He still works there. Didnt Oak Forest have a fire department employee several years ago get into an accident drunk and flee the scene who still works for the department? HMMMMMM

If you put something out to the residents that we would still maintain a high quality of paramedic service at a fraction of the cost which would help reduce our property taxes you actuall believe the people would be against this. All paramedics take the same state test. They all must maintain the same level of education. You would not need the same level of staffing if you contracted out the paramedic services. Spoken by a true Oak Forest frie department employee. I agree with the other guy. Why are we not like Chicago and have our street department collecting garbage? Why is it ok to contract this service out? After all theis is a way bigger health and safety issue then contracting out paramedic services.
