There is a rumor going around that a family fare is going into the village market building when they close. Anybody know anything about it? I'm not that excited about family fare but some of them have Starbucks and that I would get excited about!!!

Haven't heard that yet but I know in the Holland store as far as purchasing gas customers rank them 99 out of a possible 100. They always have short checkout lines and I know they are know to give out popcorn and water to shoppers. Their bakery is incredible the rest is same old same old. The key will be more "real" competition which will ultimately benefit South Haven as more people will be shopping here with more stores to choose from.

They're a little more upscale appearing than VM. We stopped at the one on the South Side a couple of weeks ago and I actually thought to myself "if VM would remodel like this it would be much more attractive". I mean, they're already screwing you on price, at least they can do it in nice surroundings. Their current store looks like somthing that belongs in Bangor or Bloomingdale (no offense intend).

That said, first I've heard about VM shutting down. Where is that info from?

I agree with you on the condition of the VM store I don't shop there anymore(used to weekly) and every time I stop in to pick up an item or two it just looks worse and worse. It seems like a lot of new staff also. It doesn't seem like any $ is being put back into the store upkeep that's for sure.?

I haven't been able to contact anyone who knows anything about a closure .If not planning on closing better start thinking about remodelling!!

Typical. More unfounded rumor-mongering.

Never heard that one before.
Was in VM a few weeks ago and nearly froze to dead. Clerks had sweaters and vests on. I wonder if they are cutting back on heating costs.

They are selling their corner land. I say the sign. Jesus Christ. What ever happened to that man that was suppose to have been stealing money from them?

Now I can understand why they have a lot of expired product on the shelves. LOL.

$6M? Heck, even I would notice that missing....
