Just two Democrats vying for an open seat that comes with a six-figure salary along with health, pension and a whole lot of other great perks?
Not a single Republican candidate?
Not a single female candidate?
Mindboggling!

On the subject of gasoline prices, I keep thinking of Glenn Heller’s Beacon Hill Gulf. Now, some of you younger readers are probably asking “Who is Glenn Heller?” Well, Glenn Heller, a tall, bearded, bespectacled dude, with a dark bushy beard and scary demeanor, was the owner and operator of the Beacon Hill Gulf gas station, back in the days of the Arab oil embargoes of the 70’s. He earned his place in history when he became the first gas station operator in Boston to go over one dollar in price for a gallon of gasoline. He also had the distinction of being the very first gas station operator that anyone knew of, that charged people for using the air hose. I was bicycling around the city a lot back then, and he even charged 50¢ per bike for air.“Attendant will connect hose. Air costs money to compress!”, a hand-lettered sign stated with authority.

Today, no one knows the whereabouts of Mr. Glenn Heller. He sold the gas station back in the early 80’s, and took off for parts unknown. Somehow, the conspiracy buff in me wants to believe that he’s operating from a secret lair somewhere, and that he’s behind all those pay-for-air stations that are now standard equipment at gas stations everywhere, with a few exceptions

It does not surprise me that State Rep.(and Berkshire County sheriff candidate) Dan Bosley would need to hire a public relations firm from outside Berkshire County. Next, most of his campaign funding, we'll learn, is derived from outside sources (outside Berkshire County, that is). Mr. Bosley has forgotten what it's like to be dubbed-homegrown!

Let's elect a candidate, Tom Bowler, who is has lived in Pittsfield all his life and remained socially connected to the heart and pulse of Pittsfield and Berkshire County.

Mr. Bosley's legislative talents are needed in Boston, not Berkshire County. The office of sheriff is a law enforcement position, not a political rest home for overzealous pols.

Remember, vote-Tom Bowler-Berkshire County sheriff on November 2, 2010. He's our guy!

Hey how come Connor Berry did not mention the Eagle connection for the Bowler race....you know the part were Berry writes about the "investigation" by Bowler about the Sheriff. The info is leaked (unsubstantiated and unproven) about the Sheriff.s accusation that he fondled someone 31 years ago.
Bowler gives him the scoop and Berry runs with it.
Shame on Berry...he should have his reporters notebook taken away.
Bowler destroys a person to climb on his head to reach public office.
You are today as you will be tomorrow...in Berry and Bowlers case that would be mean spirited and dishonest

Education and Rehabilitation....yea sure...I'll bet if you check the numbers.....at least 80% of the people in the jail are repeat offenders and have been through some sort of education and rehabilitation program offered before...we don't need a bleeding heart politician as Sheriff. We need the one who will hold these people accountable for the crimes that they commit.

A slick politician needs a slick PR firm to even get a respectable showing. The guy has been a bad Rep. for many years and tried to throw his weight around Berkshire County, sometimes with success, slithering off to some lobbying job where he can pull down some more serious money, but at least not our tax money. Since he is getting creamed on the gambling issue and out of power in Boston, it is best he not represent us on anything in any office.

Lets not forget that Dan Bosley and his lap dog Barrett circumvented a court order by giving a pansion to a certain city employee who was given the choice of jail or no pension for ordering an underling to burry gallons of dirty oil on city property. So much for the law hey Dan?

When you look at the election for Berkshire County Sheriff, one sees a qualified law enforcement officer running against a guy who has become a, "Boston Fat Cat" politician with little to no experience in law enforcement, rehabilitation and specific understanding of the jail system. Dan has been involved in a number of questionable things. The first is that as a State Legislator he has been one if not the most outside of the country traveled Representatives. He said he went abroad to teach others how to promote economic development. What development has he brought to the Berkshires to justify all his travel outside the country. He and recently defeated Mayor John Barrett were behind the move to re-enstate the pension of a City employee who was the first City official in the State to violate the law by allowing dumping of illegal toxic materials and convicted of a felony. Over the years Dan has lost his political clout and questions have arisen over his connection with the former Speaker of the House who is under legal investigation. Lastly, if Dan thinks that the election is going to be primarily based on hiring a high powered expensive public relations company to promote his campaign than it will be a waste of money because the voters will see beyond slick ads and look at qualifications, law related experience as well as past record. With all this in mind, Tom Bowler will prevail and provide the people of Berkshire with the best official for the job as Sheriff. Pass this information on to your friends, family and anyone interested in the upcoming election.
