Oh my. Is this the part where I need a stake and mallet to drive through the anti-Christ's heart or do I need to build an arc? I get so confused with all this religious stuff.

Can't talk now. I'm very very busy rounding up two of every living thing to put on my ark. Should I start big with elephants and whales or small with fruit flies? I think I saw a couple this morning on some old bananas. What is everyone just sitting around for???? The anti-Chris is coming!!!!

Whine all you want. Religion has NO PLACE in politics. Never did. Never will. Religion is a PERSONAL CHOICE AND PRACTICE and should NOT be associated with our President, nor anyone else in government. Religion - politics, one should have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the other! It's what our forefathers intended for this great country!

No, they didn't lie when they wrote the Declaration of Independence. It was the 18th century - black people were considered 2/3 a person (or soomething like that) and fell under slavery, it was legal for white land owners to own people, wives were considered property and could not vote, and their relationship with God was not a literal one, since so many of them begat bastard children. These guuys did not follow what we now call a "religious life" at all. Religion was more ethereal then. Their brilliance was in framing religion as a choice: you were free to practice any one you wanted free from government interference, and you were free to not pratice at all.

The Declaration of Independence was signed over the course of several years. Not everyone was in Philadelphia when it was ratified and transportation took weeks or months in those days. The Bill of Rights was introduced in 1789 and ratified in 1791.

The when matters not. Her statement was:

"Religion has NO PLACE in politics."

The first 2 paragraphs of the Declaration PROVES her wrong or it is a lie. Which is it Joy?

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is also the first section of the Bill of Rights. It is arguably the most important part of the U.S. Constitution, as it guarantees freedoms of religion, speech, writing and publishing, peaceful assembly, and the freedom to raise grievances with the Government. In addition, it requires that a wall of separation be maintained between church and state. It reads:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

It's pretty clear: the United States does not have a national religion, nor does it hold any one religion above others. You can believe whatever you like, but your religion cannot override the rights of those who practice another or who do not believe in religion at all. The founding fathers knew that religion created all sorts of problems in nations historically (wars, genocide, etc). They wanted to get away from that.

Yet we still have a lot of influence from religion. How much heat did/does Obama take for the Church he attended and the religious leaders he held in honor?

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Libra

If you live with other people you have to resign yourself to the fact that you all want to do different things today. The more you urge togetherness, the more everyone will be determined under tonight's Full Moon to do their own thing even if it creates problems. Try to play this down as much as possible because it's also a lunar eclipse and getting angry won't solve anything; it may even make the situation worse. Maybe this is a chance for you to do what you want for a change, too? Anyway, enjoy yourself tonight, Libra because you deserve it!
