It's time to investigate and prosecute these criminals.
Couldn't agree more. We need to clean house of these thieves and keep it clean.

I truly believe everyone here who complains about gov't employees getting paid is because they themselves could cut the muster to become one...nothing but pure jealousy!!

I will admit there are very good ones out there. I'm really venting on those that abuse and unfortunatel there are quit a few.
Although I do not agree with your comment,
I do believe some on here could be envious of the bloated pay, job security and pensions that SOME do not deserve.

Agree! Taxpayers should not have to pay for councilmember's personal parties.

Abe...I appreciate and respect your view..but think about this...public service pensions are the same as private 401's, IRAs, company pensions, company profit sharings and Social Security, etc....everyone (private & public employees) pays one way or the other for anothers pensions/wages....let's say you work for Coors and they have a pension plan....me as a customer buy your product thus income for your company and your wages/pay that come from me go into that pension fund..now if Coors keeps raising their prices for beer, to cover employees wages, and benefits, does it not effect the consumer, me?

Why doesn't anyone complain about the high salaries that private industry people make over the public employee....aren't we paying their type of "TAXES" which is the high costs for their product??

It's american greed that's driving everything higher...it's just easier blaming public employees because everyone thinks they "own" them because "we" pay their salaries from taxes...that excuse is getting old and is just plain BS..

Now if anyone should be complaining about something we should ALL start doing something about the freeloaders and the illegal immigrants coming across and getting everything for nothing...paying NO TAXES and get every resource offered by the State of California for free.

ABE..I ddo wholeheartedly agree the BELL 8 and the Vernon City Manager should be strung up...my opinion, there is no civil service employee that is worth a salary more than 200K a year.

I appreciate your respectful debate and comments. You make excellent points and I agree with quite a few. If only republicans and democrats could have healthy open minded debates like us.
I think we both agree now that there are mostly ethical honest hard working city employees.
I think we also both agree that excessive abusive pay and pensions need to be stopped wherever they may be.

Those Fire Department plates under my seat really saved my a$$. Now the state gambling board has voted and I'm fully licensed. Let me pull it out, rinse it off, and show you. I'll hold the plate up high so that you'll can see it? You guys got to lay low though as your making the streets so hot out there it's hard to make any moves. The asphalt is like melting.

I recently checked online and found out the City Manager of Whittier makes $383,000.00 per year. So I'm curious how much the rest of them make.
Remember though he only works 900 hours a year, less than half the 2080 most Americans work. With perks he is well over 400K. Looks like another Rizzo if you ask me.

I can't belive that one of the excuses for these cities is they cant fit the info on State Program. what a cope out. We as residents must demand our city complie ASAP. I also think the FEDS, should audit how PR spent CDBG funds the last five years. Let's determin if the money was legalley appropriated or were admin spend the money on non CDBG funds go to pet projects, and not community services.

The State Controller needs to ask the Mayor of South El Monte about the 2011 Merceded-Benz C Class C300 sedan. Really does the city need this kind of car? Oh that's why they wanted Measure R passed. So the residents of South El Monte can pay for it.

We need a new state agency to investigate the cities. A new federal agency to investigate the states. Now all we need is somebody to investigate the federal. I don't know how this would work.

PENSIONS FOR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ARE THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.(Plus 50 paid time off days per year.)

The private sector is hurting and these Union scums runoff with our money!

You need to go back and take math again. How could a teacher get 50K a year after only 25 years? And they still have to pay medical, it is not free for retired teachers. Most teachers do not live long after retirement. Ten years is pretty typical life expectancy.

Are you counting Sat and Sun? Who gets paid for 50 days off? Teachers get 10 paid days off each year. All of those so called vacations are unpaid.

How do you know how many hours he works? Most people in this position work well in excess of 40 hour weeks and 8 hour days. Attending meetings at night is part of the job and that is after working 10 hours in and out of the office. Weekends can often be busy with more meetings, preparing reports, etc. Like school administrators, 60-70 hour weeks are often the norm.
