Jordan said a letter dated Aug. 27 was sent to all cities. In addition, the requirement was publicized and the League of California Cities disseminated the information, she said.

How do these cities explain this ?

Keep trying to cook the books and see what happens.
Revolution against over paid, over pensioned and under worked city employees has begun. Your spoiled, entitled and thieving ways are coming to an end. Every city has a little Bell in them and it won't stop until we prosecute, fire and recall some of these criminals.
Nice job Mr. Chiang and nice reporting Mr. Sprague.
Now if you both could dig a little deeper and get us some of these scum bags heads on the chopping block. They have had it coming for far too long now.
Can you go after the water boards and execs next ?

Do we need to give them the benefit of doubt or should we just assume
A) they don't know what they're doing
B) They don't really want to comply
C) They don't know how to fake the data
D) They don't WANT to cover-up and lie
E) If they play a straight arrow they know WHERE it will land
You take your pick, none of the choices make them look good.

don't give them any breathing room, or any kind of chance to wiggle their way out of this. if they have taken one penny more than they should have, then they are guilty of being thieves. remember that these are the same people who think that they are better than the rest of us. these are the same people who would screw you over, mess with your life, or property rights if it would line their pockets, or advance their petty polical careers. don't be fooled. don't give them a chance to talk. just get them now, and make an example out of them! i really hope this gets ugly.
have a pleasant day,

"Debbie Lopez, assistant city manager for Pico Rivera, said they're late because they never were notified of the requirement by the Controller's Office". What a lame excuse!
We are paying for TWO assistant city managers and both are asleep at the wheel. Sure, all the other cities in California were notified but not Pico Rivera? This stinks of a cover up

I'm really interested in seeing how much Montebello's school administrators get paid! Show me now! I know that many of the teachers are overworked and underpaid again this year!

Excuses, excuses..."never notified," "systems," all I hear is "blah, blah, blah." Get with it city workers, enough of the excuses and turn in the reports! It's time for accountability.

OH! How about the city of Maywood. I would like to hear that Felipe Agguire goes to jail. He never did anything to help with the cities high crime rate or help with city repairs. I do know that he asked for funds and said it was for the city but, actually it was to renovate his unit apartment building. He knocked on my door when I lived in Maywood and asked if I could vote for him during his re election. I told him that if I did, will there be any city improvements and of course he said yes but, failed to do anything. Typical politician. I then heard this year that he did this crime. I always knew he was a crook. The city always looked like crap and the gangsters never stopped commiting crimes including murders. What a ugly town. Just like the gangsters of the same city. CROOKS!!! Maywood is just next door to Bell. Hummmm?

Just like anywhere else you idiot. Worry about Placentia first. We all know Monte isn't the greatest when it comes to city management and the police department

If they don't report they may be fined ?
I hope not.
The taxpayers will be paying it.
How about giving the city staffs community service instead. I'd like to see all of them in orange vests picking trash instead.

They can fight, but they are in fantasy denial if they think they can delay it forever. Abuse/rape of tax dollars NO MORE!!!

Why don't these crooks just give up let the taxpayers know where our money is going?

Why delay? Are we going to give up?

The incumbents are gonna be sweating the next election. They're the ones who will pay for all the abuse for now, but lets get all the abusers out eventually.

Listen to 2 women at Sams Club talking about How They must Get Prop #25 Through as this will Help Government Pass Legislation to INCREASE TAXES with Only 51% of the Vote. So I asked and Who’s Going To Pay For This Expense. They tell me the Government Will Now Have to Pay Now and No Breaks For Businesses. Asked them If Business Does Not Make Money they Go Out of Business and Can Not HIRE employees. They Didn’t Care they want More Money for their Children’s Schools and Everyone Must Step and pay for Their Children educations.
Gee they are All Rocket Scientist of the Future You Would think.

I recently checked online and found out the City Manager of Whittier makes $383,000.00 per year. So I'm curious how much the rest of them make.

If a city does not comply and is making excuses as to why they did not send in their list to the Controller's office - what are they trying to hide??

It seems that the cities in California have too much freedom and have not been checked by the State Government for so many years that there
have been many crooks running the cities.

So now Montebello, Whittier, and whoever did not turn in the pay rates for city workers are "compiling" a report and maybe "hiding" expenditures??? Hmmm...makes you wonder.
