" the City Council voted to spend more than $20,000 on mailers "

And there you have it, the city management is clueless.$20K wasted on telling people the benefits of higher taxation?

When will politicians learn that the solutions is NOT higher taxes but controlling costs?

I do all my big ticket purchases OUTSIDE of the 9.75% tax areas. Both to save money and as a protest.

"Carson shoppers will pay an additional penny on the dollar for purchases if voters approve Carson's Measure H on Tuesday." Why would they approve that? Who benefits?

The total IQ of Carson is about 70 combined with all of its citizens, mostly all liberals and union workers........can you blame them for this studity? Well.....hard to say other than this city council all needs a combined lobotomy and cut part of their brain lobes out..........and they still haven't learned that less taxes proves to mean more revenue and more taxes throughout history means less revenue..........kick them all out on Tuesday please.

I wholeheartedly agree with the comment. On point, accurate, and the reality (truth) of the matter. I already expressed my position by voting early against the additional and unnecessary tax. Cut the cost of government first; even at the expense of city jobs and nice to have services in our current economy. Wrong tax, wrong time.

Dear Fellow Carson Residents,
On Tuesday we have an opportunity to send a strong message to our elected officials. While other cities live within their means Carson cannot. Why not? High salaries, excessive overtime, ridiculous benefits, etc. are part of the problem. If all you have in your checkbook is $100, then does it make sense to write a check for $110? If you do then it is against the law and you could face penalites. Clean up city hall before you decide to raid our small below living wages paychecks. I urge you to vote NO NO NO on this sales tax measure.

Doesn't it appear that the people against this increase tax proposal are acting like the way the republicans think (no new taxes)? These are the same people who will vote democrat BUT really act like republications!!

How observant of you. These jckadzs (Dummycrat symbol) will yell about this tax, and may even vote against it, but will continue to elect liberal socialists to run (ruin) their cities. Amazing bunch of 'trds.

Thanks to the liberal infection of our school system, up is down and down is up. Sheeple no longer think very deep. They think a tax increase only applies to the other guy. A Law passed is a freedom lost.

WTF is going on now Jerry we know you are leaving the city before the hammer comes down and this idea of a tax hike is so that the city can afford to pay you salary and pension $1.6 mil thats alot of cash you are walking away with! you failed us and you want us to pay for it!

City Manager Jerry Groomes said staff advanced the idea because surveyed residents said they would prefer a sales tax increase over other fee hikes.

"When asked if they think the city needs additional funding, 77 percent of people
surveyed said yes," Groomes said. NO NO NO AND NO WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR THIS STUPID INCREASE

What do you expect, this is an increase in salary for the leaders of Carson. This is the norm these days, one for you three for me. They may be good leaders going in but the tempation is way too great to pass up. The people (voters) need to set a one time salary for polititians as administrators only. The people need to vote on every issue each and everytime, overseen by the administrator elect.

Don't you wonder why Fred Sands (Owns the Carson Mall) would donate $24,000.00 to the "No on H" campaign??

Maybe he wants to protect his bottom line? He wants to make sure residents keep shopping in the Carson Mall to make sure he stays rich!

Why else would he donate his own money into the campaign against a tax measure?

It has already been established that fluctuations in shopping habits when there are tax increases are modest. Most people will still keep shopping where they normally shop.

Why criticize the employees of the City of Carson? The union has already rolled back the retirement formulas for new hires. They've cut back on paid overtime. The entire employee workforce has started furloughs and there were employees who were given lay-off notices.

What more do you want them to do? Give up their first born or should we "tar and feather" them in the town square?

Let's face it - nothing this city will ever do will EVER be right in your eyes! If they got rid of the entire City Council, fired the City Manager, fired the City Attorney and let go of half the work force, you would still find something critical about what is going on in the City of Carson.

The reduction in programs and services has already begun. City programs have been reduced, fees have been increased and the Sheriff's contract was cut this year. All because the City is struggling.

The City will continue to cut programs and services to meet the needs of the budget. If you are unhappy with where we are today, please don't be upset if the City continues its cuts if this measure does not pass.

If your children participate in the parks programs, or your parents come over to play bingo and go on senior trips, or your grandparents use Senior Services, then support the measure.

VOTE YES ON MEASURE H and HELP CARSON!!!!
